This one is definitely not for pre-teen girls.

This film was made to celebrate a lost culture, and those who were part of it, or are merely curious, will find a path into the past through it.

Run Time: 2:24
U.S. Release Date: 2025-01-10
MPAA Rating: "R" (Profanity, Violence)
Genre: Thriller
Director: Christian Gudegast
Cast: Gerard Butler, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Evin Ahmad, Salvatore Esposito, Michael Bisping

Gudegast has crafted a second chapter that is at least as good (and in some ways better) than its predecessor.

Blessed with the right script and cast, Seidelman crafts the perfect tone – a grounded whimsy that allows the fairy tale elements to take flight.

Its anarchic and rambunctious approach to the genre results in an entertaining hybrid of comic book action and straightforward satire.

With its offbeat blend of warped humor, dramatic/horror elements, and social commentary, "Dream Scenario" may not always be comfortable but it is undeniably provocative.

It is not a bad way to spend a couple of hours, keeping in mind that this fairy tale, like most, has only a tenuous link to reality.

A far cry from the fantastic majesty of the Tolkien-based epics but has the feel of something that could spawn an enduring franchise if it catches on.

Whodunnits? are generally an awkward fit for the two-hour limitations of a theatrical movie but this is one of the better ones.

Although there is a fair amount of regurgitation of the news story, "The Dissident" offers sufficient new material to justify its existence.
