Post Re: SUBMARINE
I'd never read anything about that film until today. Five minutes ago I read Ebert's review. It bored me to tears, forcing me to speed my way through (something that's increasingly happening with his texts, BTW; he goes off on annoying tangents, focusing on minor points that have no bearing on the flick). Anyhow, it did everything to make me want to actually avoid the movie even though he gave it 3.5 stars.

Reading JB's review however totally made me want to see it as I loved Adventureland and good coming-of-age stories.

Then I saw the trailer and it just kind of depressed the hell outta me. Weird? And what's up with these British films and their muted colors? Makes me want to slash my wrists...

I want to see this... which means I'll likely have to wait until it's out on video to do so.

Mark Kermode liked this as well and had Noah on his show to talk about the movie.

One I'd been waiting for.

Same here ... looking forward to it though. And I must be the only guy who loved Rushmore. Everyone always bashes that movie, but I found it charming in its own misanthropic way.

How can people bash Rushmore? That was great!

My local cinema here (in The Czech Rep.) has now had it listed as opening on each of the last three weeks, yet it's still to materialise. I'm rather frustrated because I've been looking forward to it a great deal.
