 Razzie Nominations Announced
I figured I'd get this up (hopefully) before anyone else; not surprisingly, I haven't seen too many of these (in fact, I'm thinking that The Expendables was the only film I've seen that was nominated in any of these categories) so I don't really have much to say - even more than James, I scrupulously try to avoid anything that might carry with it even the slightest whiff of awfulness - but everyone else feel free to weigh in (also, administrators, if there's a more appropriate spot for this, by all means, please feel free to move it there). Re: Razzie Nominations Announced
Does ANYBODY even care about the razzies anymore? That said I still do hope the either Eclipse or SATC2 wins as they both definitely deserve it(and I hope Shyamalan wins over Seltzerberg, because I didn't think Vampires Suck was all that bad)

 Re: Razzie Nominations Announced
The Razzies tend to shoot too much at easy targets (though I was expecting they might pick on Christina Aguilera).
Kristen Stewart is generally okay in anything outside of the Twilight Saga. She's really good as Joan Jett in The Runaways. I can't testify how she is in the Twilight Saga because I haven't seen it.
Actually, I haven't seen any of the nominees in any category.

 Re: Razzie Nominations Announced
I actually finally saw The Runaways and Stewart was very good; seeing her in those leather pants was more than worth the rental cost by itself but that was just icing on the cake. I too haven't seen - and absolutely refuse to see - any of the Twilight's because I don't want my impression of her to be sullied. I look forward to the day when the last of those movies comes out so that she can make a clean break and focus on the more interesting stuff she's been doing.

Only one Razzie nod for Stallone, the Razzies are even more useless than ever before

Last Airbender for the win; at least if James were the one judging this, that would probably be the outcome...

 Re: Razzie Nominations Announced
The 3D in that Saw picture wasn't actually all that bad. It was shot in 3D from the start (as opposed to being converted after the fact) so a lot of 3D exists purely for depth perception.

 Re: Razzie Nominations Announced
I stopped having fun with the Razzies around '99, when I believe they nominated Sofia Coppola as Worst Supporting Actress, since she was apparently a handmaiden in The Phantom Menace. I guess I've spent too many years enduring crummy flicks, but when an organization purports to give the worst movies out there their just desserts, I expect them to work at it. They've spent years going after the easy targets -- that's not to say that this year's crop doesn't have its stinkers (Vampires Suck is in my own bottom 10 for last year), but are the five Worst Picture nominees that much worse than any number of the unendurable indies or aimless horror movies that saw release in 2010?

 Re: Razzie Nominations Announced
Honestly, Twilight Saga Eclipse was not THAT bad. It wasn't good either mind you, but it's definitely NOT among the year's worst IMO. They just nominated it a bunch of times because as everyone else says, they choose easy targets and hating Twilight is the popular thing to do.
The Last Airbender, on the other hand, I must admit deserves everything it got. Horrible movie.

 Re: Razzie Nominations Announced
The Razzies are pathetic. There's no way some of these movies should be even close to nominated and they left out much worse movies just so they could hit their targets for no reason and try to be funny and hip.

 Re: Razzie Nominations Announced
I wouldn't say "no reason". They like to target money grabs, fads and tabloid stars. No-one cares if you go after some schlocky picture that no-one saw. Go after Jennifer Aniston and the world notices.

 Re: Razzie Nominations Announced
This. And the fact that they tend to "bunch up" their nominees, like nominating an entire cast, which to me makes it look like they do it just to take cheap shots at everyone. Not that some of these films don't deserve it: The Bounty Hunter was painful to endure, The Last Airbender is utter garbage and I avoid anything having to do with Twilight since I read those books (had to see what all the fuss was about): cheesy-as-hell sappy gothic romance crap.

 Re: Razzie Nominations Announced
The bolded section is exactly why they're pathetic. Seriously, Jennifer Aniston? She was an easy target like 6 years ago! Now, she's about as difficult to rag on as a tampon. The people and movies they choose to pick on just feel like lazy selections. Who can't give a few lines as to why Twilight (probably) sucks? Who can't throw out some Ashton Kutcher zings? The majority of people they choose to pick on either are already complete jokes, or have careers that have been dead for years. Make fun of Aniston when she still had a career and was doing shitty projects. Don't make fun of Generic Romantic Comedy #24. It isn't edgy. It isn't funny. It isn't hip. It's fucking lame. The Razzies could be funny if they chose to go after people who have the chance now to do good stuff, but choose crap. Or people who just suck, even if they're in something good. The Razzies continue to waste a golden opportunity for comedy. Fuck whoever is responsible for them. End rant.
