Wonder why everyone's rating Let Me In so high, James usually hates remakes of foreign horror films, and Let Me In looks mediocre at best.

Check out its current score on rottentomatoes.com; that should answer your question. Having said that, I will now proceed to offer my guesses for this week's releases.

Freakonomics **1/2 Looks fascinating but I have the feeling that James might term this one an "interesting failure."

Let Me In *** Judging by what I've read so far, this one looks like the rare remake that will actually do justice to the spirit of the original, plus, the casting (especially that of Chloe "Hit Girl" Moretz) looks very, very promising.

Social Network ***1/2 Again, the strong casting, not to mention the director (even if he continues his trek into mainstream territory) makes this look like a possible standout.

For one thing, the original wasn't Asian.

Well I said foreign, not Asian, and Let Me In still looks pretty weak regardless.
