I love how only one of my picks are winning the popular vote. Shows how much a renegade, rambling boy of pleasure I am. 8-)

P.S.: I hate to be a pest and maybe turn this whole thread upside-down, but if The Berardinellis are strictly our votes, doesn’t that mean we could vote for things that weren’t nominated by the Oscars and they would still count?

Hi there

We created this thread to get a feel for how James' readers would vote at the Oscars. Would they be different to the Academy?

You could of course vote for films that weren't nominated, but they would not win or even count :-)

There's plenty of threads on the injustices of this years nominations. We probably agree on them as well!

I see, for some reason I got more of a gist that the Berardinellis would be more like our own little Oscars where, if I know Berard's readership as well as I think I do, that The Dark Knight would most likely get nominated.

Film- Slumdog Millionaire easily the best out of a week field but it should be The Dark Knight.
Actor-Mickey Rourke, the Academy loves a comeback.
Actress- Kate Winslet, the Academy has left her empty handed for too long now.
Supporting Actor- Heath Ledger, the only definate lock this year
Supporting Actress- I want Marisa Tomei but its going to be Penelope Cruz.
Director- I'm betting Danny Boyle, but it could be David Fincher's night.

Post Re: The Berardinellis - nominations close Friday 19th at 12 noon
Film: Milk
Director: Gus Van Sant
Actor: Sean Penn
Actress: Meryl Streep
S Actor: Ledger (Safest bet to win, but imo this is the strongest category)
S Actress: Amy Adams

I think Kate Winslet is probably the best actress around today and she should already have several oscars. She'd even have my vote for Revolutionary Road, but I felt she had one of the weaker performances in The Reader.
