 Poll #50: Samuel L. Jackson....BMF
It's Poll #50 and with this comes Samuel L. motherfucking Jackson. So what's your favorite role of his.
And to make things interesting, I'm not going putting up Tarantino movies as choices.

I'm going with Snakes on a Plane, only he's badass enough to make the movie work and make "All praises to the Playstation" sound awesome and badass....motherfucker.

Black Snake Moan for me. Jackson has a tendency to play only the one character: Samuel L. Jackson. In BSM he did something different: a wounded man that had Sam Jackson quirks. He's cool and I like when he shows up but he's not the most diverse actor.

 Re: Poll #50: Samuel L. Jackson....BMF
I went with Carl Lee Hailey based solely on Dave Chappelle's characterization of him in the beer skit.
I do think he gave a good performance in Black Snake Moan, a film that I found pretty good, if a bit messy. It just didn't fit the spirit of the poll for me.
Of course, the obvious answer would have been Jules Winnfield, but Patrick robbed us of that.

I have sentimental memories of him in Jurassic Park.

Mr. Glass was my favorite performance of Samuel L. but he's the most bad-assed as Carl Lee Hailey in A Time to Kill. There's not too much more bad ass than mowing down racist Mississippi trash with an M-16. Also, he's pretty legit in this role as well.

Who is the man that would risk his neck for his brother man?
Frozone.

Due to a lack of Jules, this poll has been considered null and void.
Good day.
But seriously, 'badass' I guess would have to be SoaP

I considered going with Ray "Hold on to your butts" Arnold, as Jurassic Park was the first film I saw Jackson in, but instead I went with Frozone, as it takes considerable skill to be considered badass in a family film.

I can't believe Frozone is winning this thing. That's just flat-out cool.

What a revelation - if you leave out the Tarantino movies Samuel L Jackson has starred in, his filmography suddenly looks rubbish. I mean, The Spirit, Jumper, 51st State - terrible, terrible movies and he was terrible in them, too. He needs to find a new agent pronto.
Oh, I voted for Deep Blue Sea. Strictly speaking, it's a bad movie, too, but it knows it is and has fun with the ridiculous premise, glaring logical errors and bad science. Makes me laugh every time.

I loved him in those films, but IMO his worst performance by far was in The Spirit, though that was more due to the dreadful dialogue he was given such as "Come on! Toilets are always funny!" and "I had you beat, just like eggs!" Seriously, what the hell was Frank Miller smoking when he wrote those godawful lines?(or the entire script for that matter) I also didn't care much for him in Unbreakable, course then again I pretty much didn't care for ANYTHING in that insanely overrated film.

 Re: Poll #50: Samuel L. Jackson....BMF
Other than Pulp Fiction, his best performances have been in The Caveman's Valentine, Changing Lanes, Black Snake Moan, Unbreakable and A Time to Kill. But as far as what his most badass, awesome role? I guess that would be Zues as in father of Apollo, Mount Olympis. Don't fuck with me or else you'll have a lightening bolt up your ass! Snakes on a Plane and The Negotiator are awesome roles and awesome movies too.
