 Week #9, 2010 editionI thought Phil/Evenflow was going to pick things up this week, but I guess he has been detained.
Can we go three consecutive weeks without a winner?? This week's choices: Movie #1 - CHLOE (Tuesday, March 23) - A Toronto special Movie #2 - HOT TUB TIME MACHINE (Wednesday, March 24) Movie #3 - THE ECLIPSE (Thursday, March 25) All entries should be submitted by noon EDT on March 23 - late entries will be declared null and void. Re: Week #9, 2010 edition Chloe: **1/2 The Toronto review gives the impression that there were plenty of things that James appreciated about the film (including, of course, the nudity) and that the first 2/3 of the film was promising but that Egoyan couldn't sustain the momentum for the last act
Hot Tub Time Machine: **1/2 James seems to have always appreciated John Cusack's comedic stuff enough to give it at least a marginal recommendation so that will be my guess here because it doesn't looking like it'll end up being much better than that. The Eclipse: *** Looks like a moody horror film that focuses more on its characters than on cheap thrills. Btw, I love how the two leads from 2000's High Fidelity have films opening up the same week. Anyway, I was wondering, will there be a review of Noah Baumbach's latest Greenberg? It seems to be getting pretty good reviews so far. Hot Tub Time Machine - *** The Eclipse - *** Ciarán Hinds, a great character actor, finally gets his chance to shine in a lead role with The Eclipse. Reminds me of when Richard Jenkins, another great character actor, who got to shine in a lead role with 2008's The Visitor. The Eclipse looks like a really good psychological thriller. I hope I get a chance to see it and not have to wait for dvd. |
