So, What Are You Planning On Watching Next?
This could be tonight, over the next week, over the next year... whatever you like.
And yes. This isn't a great thread idea. You're right.
I'm going with Mary and Max, recently acquired through the something or another. I've been looking forward to it like crazy ever since Rob burst through the e-door and started screaming "See this movie! See this movie! Ahhhhhhhhhhhh!" After watching the first 10 minutes on YOUtube (just search "Mary and Max" and there it is!) I was sold on consuming the rest.
After that it'll be Shock Corridor, Samuel Fuller's PSA about mental institutions and the reporters that love them. I consider it a curiosity first and homework second.
And then, come Tuesday, it'll be High and Low. It's Kurosawa without a single samurai: incentive enough to clear the schedule.
That's all I have in the schedule book. Perhaps I'll get around to that ransom video you recently sent to me. Funny thing is, I miss my son but not that much.

Re: So, What Are You Planning On Watching Next?
Tomorrow I'm going to get my liberal on and see a matinee of Green Zone. I also plan to watch Frozen River, which I checked out from the local library. Later in the week I'll be checking out Shock Corridor, The Big Clock, and Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House. Should be a gas.

There's every chance in the world that Repo Men will be a poor movie but I'm interested in seeing it for no reason other than it sharing all but one letter with a respectable cult movie. With Harry Dean Stanton!

I saw Frozen River about a month ago, which I also checked out from the library. Good film that flirts with greatness. Melissa Leo gives a simply stunning performance.

I have Alice in Wonderland on deck for tomorrow, Everybody's Fine early in the week along with hopefully Green Zone as well as Shock Corridor. From there, it's anyone's guess.

Re: So, What Are You Planning On Watching Next?
Well it looks pretty good to me, especially since it stars both Whitaker and Law(the former being one of my favorite actors) and that's got to count for something right? I also saw Repo Man, and I honestly wasn't all that crazy about it, IMO it wasn't bad per se, just kinda forgettable, and I don't really get how it became a cult classic.

Actually, I'm waiting on Gattaca (1997). Love the sci-fi and this one got by me somehow, supposedly it's alright and stuff. My brother has it qued through Netflix or something like that.

I think that Gattaca is a little underrated, I'm curious to see what you think. I haven't thought about it in a while, I may revisit it again soon now that you bring it up.

Gattaca is a masterpiece and is HUGELY under rated - the ending brings me to tears every time Rob

Re: So, What Are You Planning On Watching Next?
Grabbed my Mac Book Pro as i'm bored as hell with Sherlock Holmes - RDJ is awesome but direction is dreadful
My girlfriend and I are next up for the 6th incarnation of Mary & Max - we're addicted Then it will be the blu ray of Wages of Fear I've seen Let The Right One In twice. Bought the Blu ray and want her to experience it
Then I'm girding my loins for Great Movies 100-200

Damn Pedro, those are some quality films there. I absolutely loved Hunger, Lust Caution, Moon, Still Walking and Elegy. I haven't seen Mother but plan on it soon. Looking forward to your thoughts on all of them. Joe

Re: So, What Are You Planning On Watching Next?
Rob I was assuming that Pedro was referring to the Joon-ho Bong film but could be mistaken. In any event, that was the one I was interested in seeing. Joe

Re: So, What Are You Planning On Watching Next?
From Netflix I've got Alphaville and The White Sheik, so those will probably show up soon. I'm also going to have to do some DVR cleaning over the next couple days to make room for some Kurosawa on Tuesday (Notable choices that stick out in my mind: Kurosawa's The Idiot and The Lower Depths, Kubrick's Lolita, Wyler's Wuthering Heights and 42nd Street). Speaking of which, on Tuesday I'm going to watch The Bad Sleep Well and possibly High and Low on TCM. Other than all that, I'm really interested in Bob Fosse's Star 80 (which was just added to Netflix's streaming service) and am probably going to try to watch that soon too. Oh, and Creepshow is expiring from said service on March 20, so that'll probably get a view too. That's what sticks out for the next week or so. Fascinating, isn't it.

Re: So, What Are You Planning On Watching Next?
Kurosawa does Fyodor D. with The Idiot... it's a very entertaining, kinda slight movie (given the director). Hard to adapt that novel without sacrificing the greater nuances. Hakuchi is the name... I just saw it for the first time last Tuesday. Interesting film -- a second viewing would probably bring something more to this typist. Good luck with Alphaville. It's Godard in almost straightforward mode.
