I feel positive this week. The character known as Bob Harris seems to indicate that the Red Riding pictures get better. Hope 3 stars is enough for this one.

I want Alice to be good, but Burton can go overboard with special effects instead of his story.

Wonder why most people are so down on Brooklyn's Finest, it looks like an excellent return to form from Antoine Fuqua after the mediocre King Arthur(even the directors cut didn't impress me much)And it looks Wesley Snipes is FINALLY getting a chance to do some real acting for the first time in almost a decade.

I'm just happy Snipes is actually in a theatrical release...how the hell did he wind up in DTV hell like Seagal and Van-Damme?

I don't know, bad luck I guess, i'll admit I actually enjoyed his DTV films on some level, though it was obvious his heart wasn't into them and he was capable of much better; and Val Kilmer and Cuba Gooding Jr. look they're both going down the same path themselves as they've both already been in more then half-a-dozen DTV films, some of which were horrible beyond belief(Moscow Zero and Way Of War) some were mediocre(Linewatch, Hardwired, Wrong Turn At Tahoe) while others were surprisingly decent(Conspiracy, Hero Wanted, Endgame)I can understand how Gooding ended up going down that route, as once you do a film as bad as Daddy Day Camp, it's pretty hard for anyone to take you seriously as an actor, don't know how it happened to Kilmer though.

It might be a 3 star film still, but I'll give 3.5 a shot. I need a win man. I'm like an addict feening for the next hit.

Brooklyn's Finest - **1/2 Looks like Antoine Fuqua is trying to redo Training Day by way of an ensemble drama a la Traffic or Babel. The star-studded cast should assure at least one or two strong portrayals but I don't expect too much from this overall.

Red Riding: 1980 - *** This could be the wild card here. James mentioned that he liked this one (and the next in the series) better than the first in the series but that could just mean that they'll push the upper edge of the *** rating rather than tipping over into the next category; time will tell soon enough but that's my guess for now.

Alice in Wonderland - *** Tim Burton's excursions into dark-and-offbeat albeit family-friendly fare have typically fared decently with James and I see no reason for this to be different.
