So is this competition continuing in 2010? If so, where?

Sorry if these questions are obvious or if I'm a bit slow--I joined the forums in summer but didn't really get involved until November so I'm behind the curve in some regards.

Dude! There were these...

We will be running the contest again in 2010. Phil (Evenflow) indicated he had some new wrinkles he wanted to implement, so we'll see where things go from here. There will also be a separate "beat Berardinelli" Oscar contest in March that will have actual prizes.

In other news, next year is going to be a little bit different than this one. At risk of giving away too many details, you should know that winning is going to be either easier or harder, depending on where you stand. Also, different statistics are going to be considered and factored for the year-long contest, in addition to 'winning' each week.

I guess we'll re-start pretty soon. Phil?

EDIT: Phil got in before me, but I'll leave my post like it was for everyone to enjoy my idiocy.

Yeah thanks Ed for making the answer seem obvious but I went into competitions and couldn't find anything for 2010 so I thought maybe I remembered incorrectly that it was continuing in the new year. :)

Bad last couple of weeks here guys, sorry. Plus, today I got my wisdom teeth pulled. Happy day!

Argh, it's a movie James already owns?

Fail, Ram. Total fail. just kidding, dude

That was exactly what I thought when he told me that...although, there are two ways to watch the film I chose and he only saw it once. So there is another hint.

That makes me think Blade Runner but A. there are like 7 ways to watch Blade Runner and B. he already reviewed it as part of his alphabetical thing a couple years back. Hmmmmmmm. Then I went to Apocalypse Now normal vs. redux but he reviewed that too if I'm not mistaken. So I'm at a loss.

I think ram was talking about interpretations of a film instead of how many versions of a film there are.

Then again, ram is an admittedly horrible writer so he may just be unintentionally confusing us.

Stop feeding the man's insecurities. Ram is a fine writer. He just spends too much time crying that he can't.

Not interpretations Pat. And dude, you make me laugh...I never told you that.

When you get to the main menu of this DVD, it basically says, "Watch it without this" or "Watch it with this."

I'm thinking I already gave a lot away, but whatever...review day is getting close.

And thanks Ed. I think.

Yeah...thank you.

I should add...

It's on quite a few Top 10 lists, as well as on our Great Movies forum.

Excellent guess Ed.

You are 3 years off though.

Ram, Ram, Ram...

I loved 'Passion' but 'Day of Wrath' would have been a WAY better Dreyer film for James to sink his teeth into (which is not to say it is a better film but I think it fits James' pessimistic cinematic preferences). I mean, he may have seen it but you never know...

So yeah, I'm guessing it is 'The Passion Of Joan Of Arc', which is a great choice. I could see that being an easy four star rating from Mr. Berardinelli, as well as a great opportunity for him to wax philosophical about his feelings on the world's finest Danish director.

'The Passion Of Joan Of Arc' is a great choice. Much better than Three Amigos or My Cousin Vinny. I may have picked it as well if I won the competition.

Surprised James owns it.
I think it has the potential to make his top 100(I'm guessing he hasn't seen it in a while)

You see...I knew I'd give it away once I gave the year.

Yeah, The Passion of Joan of Arc was my choice. Once Mr. B told me he had seen the film, my thoughts of it making his Top 100 went out the window. But that's okay...I'm just really curious what he has to say of it's craft and more so, it's lead.

Not neccessarily. The Apartment wasn't originally in his top 100, he added it after rewatching it years later.

I haven't seen it, but I'm excited for the review. Great choice!

It was a great choice, but then again how could he NOT have seen it by now? You couldn't have been surprised.

So much for knowing James... :)
