Post Poll #28: The Descent
Self-explanatory but lemme describe the endings for those not in the know:

[Reveal] Spoiler: British
The lead chick escapes, gets into the van and drives but she sees a vision of Juno. Then we find out it was all a delusion and she's still in the cave with the monsters coming.

[Reveal] Spoiler: American
It ends with the vision of Juno.

I'm going with the British ending. Its tone fits with the rest of the movie with its bleak hopelessness and the American is just a cheap scare, a good one but still cheap.

American, because i'm not really big on bleak endings but I can appreciate them, but this one in particular just didn't seem to fit with the rest of the film at all, Silent Hill had a much more effective bleak ending IMO, this one just felt contrived, my sister felt the same way.

Obviously the British ending, though I didn't like it when I first saw it. *don't know why*

I haven't seen the American ending (actually, I guess I have, since it's in the British ending), but it seems really cheap. I much more prefer the British one. I also feel it's more poignant as well.
[Reveal] Spoiler:
She's remembering her daughter and the good times she had with her. Also, in the American version, are the images of her daughter holding the birthday cake that come up throughout the movie still there? If they are, then this makes the ending even more dumb because those visions aren't explained or given context.

What a bunch of anglophiles!

I went for the British version, since like Kratz, it's the only version I saw. My sister felt the same way. I only found out about the US ending afterward while I was reading some trivia for the film.

British version definitely. Like everyone has said, it just fits the movie better. It's also much more daring and original.
