Post Re: Poll #2: Number of Theatrical Movies Per Year
Used to see 1-2 a week, it seemed like, and I still have all the ticket stubs to prove it. But as home theater equipment became better (and bigger) and I (and my husband) became older and lazier, going to a theater has become very rare. On-demand HD and the cost of theater tickets didn't help either. So I picked 1-5 option. Usually it's a few summer movies and a couple winter movies.

We're not big videophiles in terms of equipment, but what we have is enough to keep us home most of the time. We find we don't miss the theater experience much.

Cost has become a bit of an issue of late, also friends have different tastes so we'll be talking about what to see and no one likes any of the other suggestions so things fall through.

Plus people are really annoying in theaters and it's just too much of a hassle.

I love the theater. I probably go an average of twice a month, possibly more. I love the outing, the ability to get out of the house, the quality of the system, and the novelty of the picture.

I still love going to the theater. Up until 4 or 5 years ago I was pushing 75-80 showings per year. Now it's more like 20-25. I've gotten older. Hollywood doesn't make as many films for me any more. I'm no longer as impressed by big special effects and largely plotless productions. My viewing peaks during awards season and tails off during the summer.

Hi,

On average it's probably between 6-20 movies a year. I usually just wait for it to come out online and download these days.

Chan

I would love to go to the home theaters every week, but I kind of have a tough college schedule; I'm planning on seeing Year One (SHUDDER) at the school's theater. In December, Basterds will be showing .

Used to go to the theater bi-weekly. Now with young kids I generally only go to a handful of animated films a year.

I used to go a lot more in high school, but now I'm in college so I don't get to go as often  . The range is still the same though.
