INGLORIOUS BASTERDS - 4
POST GRAD - 2
BORN ON THE FOURTH OF JULY (1989) - 3

Now honestly, would any of predicted 4 stars for Basterds had it not been for Twitter? I know I sure as hell would not have...

Me neither. I'd be a full star off.

Whoa, reading this a couple posts later makes me feel like I need to clarify, because I feel like I came off like an a*shole (then again, maybe I always do). I found oafolay's comment hilarious because he was so goddamn brazen. This should not be interpreted as me agreeing (or even disagreeing) with his assessment of the OP. The general boldness of his post caught me unawares.

I sincerely apologise if my original post, or even my current explanation, upset anyone.

After I read this, I had one thought...

OP?

Anyways, everybody succeeded in not getting banned! Congratulations :) Now let's see who wins...

Does anyone else think the girl from Post Grad looks a bit like Zooey Deschanel? Even just a little bit?

Nope, but Alexis Bledel and Zooey are comparable in hotness.

It's the eyes. Mentioned that in the review. Three actresses with tremendous "eye appeal": Bledel, Zooey, Jennifer Ehle. Bledel, however, has some rather obvious deficiencies when it comes to acting. They were not apparent in the two TRAVELING PANTS movies (didn't watch GILMORE GIRLS, so I can't comment), but they're pretty glaring here.

I really don't think no guy watched Gilmore Girls to see a well-written story or good acting....maybe a few tuned in to see Sebastian Bach. But remember Sin City...Bledel's eyes being the few things colored...*melts*

Poor Miss-us Bledel. No matter what she does, she will never dethrone Lauren Graham's Jewish Santa-fetishist (no, I didn't misspell Satan) in 'Bad Santa' for best 'Gilmore Girl' silver screen transition. She was almost sweet (in the general context of the film)!

Thank you for reminding me of that...

So, tonight we'll start seeing some eliminations, after the give away that was Inglourious Basterds.

I wonder, had James not dropped the hint on Twitter, would any of us gotten IB correct? :?:

Someone asked this question on this thread already and the general consensus was no, none of us would've.

The general consensus consisted of the person who asked and the one idiot who responded.

Pardon me, I wanted to know whether you were down with O.P.P, but I forgot that last P.

Well it was implied...and I'm sure it's true. I would've said 3 stars.

I miss the golden days of 'All That' when Naughty By Nature could appear on a show that aired before 3 am. Sigh.

Anywho, last review is out tomorrow. Hopefully, after a free first round and an easy second-round, there should be plenty of moles left to whack... I mean, winners :) I have no fool-proof idea where James will go with Stone's film, although I figure he will single it out as his best directorial effort and possibly Tom Cruise's best performance (although count on 'Magnolia' being mentioned somewhere) and give it kudos for being solidly compelling despite it's running length. I do NOT see a four star rating here.

From James' 4 star review of Platoon:

Platoon is the first chapter in Stone's so-called "Vietnam Trilogy," which also includes Born on the Fourth of July and Heaven and Earth. The other two films, although compelling pieces of cinema, are a step down from the first.

It's either 3 or 3.5 stars.
