 Godzilla Perhaps the longest running movie series of all time...but are any of the 28 movies actually good or at least good entertainment? If so, which ones are the best?

Re: Godzilla When I was a kid I enjoyed King Kong vs Godzilla. But it's been YEARS since I've seen it. Not sure what I'd think of it now.

Re: Godzilla The only film that can be deemed as good is the first film from '54(some say it's goofy, but look at the other film's track record).

Re: Godzilla The original Japanese Godzilla - not the reedited U.S. version - is a decent monster movie with an anti-nuclear bomb message, the rest are mildly enjoyable for their camp value, in my opinion.
The Roland Emmerich-directed Godzilla is absolutely terrible, though.

Re: Godzilla These were my childhood monster movies, not to mention the spin off Mothra (I had a Mothra stuffed toy when I was younger), so my firt reply wold be they are fantastic but....I have not seen them in years, and I am very reluctant to, because I dont want to spoil my memories!

Re: Godzilla Destroy All Monsters just feels like a nostalgia movie. Not much to it except the big brawl at the end. The best ones in my opinion are King Kong vs. Godzilla, Godzilla vs. The Sea Monster, Godzilla vs. The Smog Monster, Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah, and Final Wars. I have not seen Giant Monsters All-Out Attack, but word is that it's good.

Re: Godzilla Noticed that this got a re-release on Tuesday as part of the Criterion Collection. Interesting choice. Anyone seen it and think it's worth a look? I always assumed the movie was one of those famous blips, not really worthy as anything but an early special effects reel.

Re: Godzilla Saw this in the theater at at about 8 years old and it was perhaps my favorite childhood movie. Pretty sure it would be incredibly corny if I watched it now, but a lot of fun then when me and my friends were actively rooting for King Kong. I recently re-watched the original Japanese version with my son and still think that one is a pretty good movie. The voiceovers and cheesy effects do make it difficult to get involved in these movies as an adult.

The 3D film will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. except in Japan, where it will be distributed by Toho Co.
"Godzilla" will be Edwards' second film. He wrote and directed low-budget sci-fier "Monsters," for which he won trophies for best director and best technical achievement last year at the British Independent Film Awards.
Legendary had announced in March, 2011, that it had closed the rights deal for "Godzilla" with Japan's Toho Co., which has overseen more than 25 "Godzilla" films.

Re: Godzilla Very nice. "Monsters" was a fine and relatively unique little monster movie. I'd like to see what that director does with Godzilla.
