My mom love the Tyler Perry films, I want to be adopted. :x

You poor thing. While he seems to be a fantastic and very upright person, he just isn't that funny IMO. There's a way to do clean comedy, but I'm not sure he's gotten it yet.

The Madea character is one of the most irritating, fingernails in the chalkboard character ever created.

I like to think that Tyler Perry is actually this supergenius asshole racist who consciously churns out pandering, offensive shit year after year, knowingly taking advantage of the very people he publicly claims to speak for. It's sort of like the whole "Ann Coulter is so over-the-top she must secretly be a dyed in the wool liberal" idea

He seems like a nice guy to me. I respect what he's been able to accomplish. I just can't stand the Madea character.

Only the over-the-top dyed in the wool liberals want her dead without giving her several hours for original programming on Superstation TBS.

I would watch a Tyler Perry movie marathon before watching one episode of his t.v. shows.

I cannot speak for the entire audiences of both movies but I strongly suspect that the answer to your question is an emphatic "Yes".

As much as I dislike Perry, racism is the last criticism I would place on him.

In no order:

City Lights
Singin' in the Rain (yes, a musical, but it also works very well as a comedy to me)
The Emperor's New Groove
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
His Girl Friday
