Post 24 (SPOILERS WELCOME)
All I want to know is if I'm the only still dumb enough to still watch it especially since it's become a violent parody of itself. And if you are, feel free to put spoilers here if you want.

Patrick

You are not alone. i thought the last series was dreadful and promised myself that was it. have to say that so far it's been quite good IMHO.

The reputaion though is start well and quickly fade. let's hope that's wrong.

SPOILER ALERT
Who is financing CTU? They seem to have an endless supply to equipment and cars and have been in operation for a year after they were 'closed down'. it would have cost millions.

When Jack is saying that there's already a mole at the FBI in your first episode, something's a bit off.

When Jack is just NOW killing people, something's still not right.

When Jack has yet to say dammit, something's wrong.

When there's a silent clock when nobody is dead, dying of radiation poisoning or infected with a near-fatal skin virus, you realize you may be wasting your time.

But I'm still going to watch cause it's my crack. And I want to see which big star gets to be the mastermind like Dennis Hopper, Jigsaw, Imhotep, Robocop or James Cromwell. Also, I think Agent Walker is kinda hot, especially those eyes.

The last few years I start off watching the show despite how bad the last year was because I hope this year will be better and I know that you can't just jump in the middle of a year. I end up watching the whole year just to get to the end.

Spoiler alert for old episode

Should have ended the show with Jack being "dead" then walking off in to the sun set....whatever season that was.

I think that was Season 4....the one with Imhotep

It took a few weeks but 24 just came with its first episode that was decent, full of tension, shootouts and Agent Walker looking even hotter with a change of clothes. I still don't care what happens next but this is a step in the right direction.

Also, was it just me or did the plant manager sounded like Boyd Cooper from the game Psychonauts?

I agree that last season was a disappointment. But I've enjoyed this season a lot so far. It's got a lot of tension and some pretty cool action scenes. And having Agent Walker around certainly keeps my eyes interested.

As for who is financing CTU, it's really just been three people in CTU for the past few years (Bill, Tony, and Chloe), so you don't have to worry about payroll. And their van looks pretty old, so they probably didn't spend a lot on it. I'm assuming Chloe still has connections with people who can get her the latest technology, and Bill and Tony may have people who can get them weapons. In short, it's about as probable as all of this stuff actually happening in 24 hours and not over several weeks like it would actually have to be.

MKratzer21,
Yeah, I agree, but it's already strating to feel like same old, same old.
Big disasters, inside infiltration, Jack out alone, another day in the life of the President....
I guess I just feel very manipulated by it all.
I keep watching, but I'm really not sure why

My wife, who absolutely hates the show, described it as a soap opera for guys. It's very formulaic, somewhat dumb, but there's hot chicks and explosions, so we have to keep watching. I still like this season, especially compared to last season, but you're right. They're going back to their old tricks. But hey, at least it's not like Lost, which I must admit I don't watch, where the show doesn't give any concrete answers. For going on five years now. We know that 24's story line will be ended this season, only to start anew next season. But we will have answers.

My girlfriend like sit too but has all the same reservations. The challenge for the producers is that the nature of the show locks thme into a formula where all hell must break out and be resolved within 24 hours

I would strongly recommend that the Senate and Congress start watching 24. Then we'd have all our issues resolved each day :-)

Once I stand back from 24 I realize just how ridiculous it really is.

Rob

PS - As far as I am aware, Jack has never been to the toilet in 8 days - in fact, did CTU even have bathrooms?

Jack has not been to the bathroom, nor has he eaten, in any season of the show (as far as I know). I think CTU did have bathrooms. I vaguely remember someone going into one to do something nefarious. Probably because they knew that, since no one goes in there, they wouldn't be caught.

Jack had a full breakfast at the first episode of either Season 4 or 5! The one he was Frank and was working at an oil rig! Pay attention next time geez :D

But I don't think Jack has gone to the bathroom but I bet he has bladder and colons of steel

Awesome answer!

I didn't actually start watching the series until season 5 (the one where David Palmer gets shot in the first five minutes), so he missed his breakfast eating.

He ate a bullet. That has the daily requirement of Iron if you ignore the dying thing.

My bad. I meant to say "I missed his [referring to Jack's] breakfast eating. Palmer may have had a well-balanced breakfast before getting an overdose of iron.

Actually, Season 5 was the Jack eating season I was thinking about cause the terrorist he had for dessert was the guy who shot Palmer.

This is toooo funny

I just hope the new series can avoid becoming a tired rehash. I already have the vibe :-(
