You can go back as far as you'd like. I know that there are some relatively new series that I've never given a chance, that one could argue are quite worthy of being on my list. The Office comes to mind. Animated series are welcome here as well. However, SNL, MADtv, In Living Color, Daily Show etc...I'd rather exclude these types for the purposes of this list. I am anxious to see which show has the most votes in common...

now you see, i dont watch much tv. so...although i have seen more than 10 sitcoms i dont want to list something i only liked, not loved. Frasier, for example. and some that i've liked quite a lot i haven't seen enough of e.g. king of the hill. so i dont feel right have either of those types of sitcoms. these 8 are one's that i can say i have seen and loved.

Seinfeld-i think we can be sure of that.

Yep. The reason I wanted to make it 10 is so that it might encourage people to go back further into early 80's and possible even 70's to remember their fav's from then. I do have a sneaking suspicion that Seinfeld will take #1, but their is another possibility...

What, as in 'maybe' better than everything else on both lists? Sit-com was made art by 'Arrested Development'. Give me a program with tighter quality levels. 'Seinfeld' is the closest I come to conceding, but parts of it have aged very badly - something 'Arrested Development' will not do.

I've never seen Arrested Development but if it should win this arbitrary contest for sitcom supremacy I'll likely tune into at least one episode on G4 to pay my half-hearted respects. I've never seen such love for a television show (outside of Seinfeld) that fans of Arrested Development had. Still have.

yeah, i think ive seen it. id like to see it once, i just dont think i will find it funny.

I don't know if it's just me, but I never thought Seinfeld was that funny. I used to watch the odd episode here and there, but it was never appointment tv. Now, Curb Your Enthusiasm is a different story entirely. I got started watching this a bit late, but was hooked instantly. When Mrs. Susie Greene says her perfectly enunciated , well I don't think there's a funnier thing on television.

i think that was the cause.

To be fair, I haven't watched many sitcom, but from 4-5 episodes I watched, I didn't feel anything for Seinfield.

You can do whatever you want.

However, I don't think many people would call Entourage a sitcom. It is more drama than comedy first of all, with the comedy not coming from the standard sitcom devices at all, but rather from the characters in realistic interactions.
The only reason someone would mistake it for a sitcom really is its 30min length.
