For me Gay Deceivers is a film that badly shows it's age. I think "The New Normal" was a pretty progressive TV show with great characters, too bad it got cancelled.

The Al Pacino film "Cruising" received a ton of protests from the gay community during filming and it's very understable why as the film comes as rather offensive with it's portrayals of sterotypes.

I've been listening to an in depth podcast about Cruising. It runs over 3 hours in length. During roughly the 35-60 minute mark they discuss the controversy and the protests. Great listening if you have a lot of free time on your hands.

The Last Temptation of Christ never made it to Norman (except maybe as a protest showing) and wasn't available in the video stores either. I can't say my soul was saved by the boycott. I finally saw it through Netflix and loved it.

The Tin Drum was banned in Oklahoma City by an overzealous district attorney, but I had little interest in it anyway.

It's not banned anymore, it was overturned in 2001.
