Post The BAFTAS
Did anyone watch these?

Stephen Fry's humour just doesn't seem to wash with our cousins across the pond. There was some cringe-inducing stuff, and a stifled atmosphere. Brad Pitt looked pissed off most of the time (probably bored); it's just fucking painful.

I couldn't do more than 30 minutes. Perhaps I have the same issues as Joaquin Pheonix.

I didn't realize the BAFTA's were televised. Probably a channel I don't have.

I don't know. But I don't have that channel. I don't know if my cable provider has it and even if it does, I don't have cable. Basic cable for me. Mostly the networks and some others. But no FX or channels like those and definitely no pay channels like hbo and showtime.

Well take some joy you had the good sense to turn them off after 30 minutes. Joaquin Pheonix is an incredible actor but comes across as a fucking cockhead from where I sit. He bags the academy awards which is fair enough. But he still sit's through the whole ceremony then shakes his head when his name is read out for a best actor nomination in The Master. People think that's cool? For fucks sakes, why he wouldn't just do a Woody Allen and actually NOT TURN UP AT ALL is beyond me.

I can understand being mad about Jennifer Lawrence being everyone's darling, though I rather like her, but I didn't think Nyongo was good enough to be outraged over.

I agree. She was good. But not "outraged she didn't win" good.

Yeah I'm sticking by my statement in my Blue Jasmine review that 2013 was a weak year in the Supporting Actress field. I doubt any of the nominated performances (haven't seen Nebraska or A:OC yet, and may not bother with the latter until Netflix) will really stand the test of time.
