I never understood how a "guilty pleasure" works before, then I watched Project X and got one of my own. Totally understand the hate, but I still rewatch it with friends from time to time.

So Project X is that bad, huh? I'm not sure I've ever watched a zero-star movie in my lifetime. Maybe I should someday just to get a feel for what true awfulness really is.

Dustin Putman also gave it 0 stars, and while I don't think it's anywhere near that bad, I can fully understand why people would hate it, as unfortunately people have tried imitating the film with not-so-pretty results.

Discovering all these great films in such a short period of time has been an exhilarating experience. And February's off to a great start.

It's the first film I've given 0 stars to. It was just absolutely disgusting.

We've had threads before where we bemoaned the demise of Blockbuster, but you can't deny the benefits of the system we have now. You can catch up on so many classics faster and more cheaply than ever.

Welcome, friend!

I've been interested in both movies in the series, but haven't gotten around to either? Worth the time?

Pete!

I don't know what the naysayers are nay-saying but both movies are good, especially if you watch them (more accurately: see them) seven thousand times with a five-year-old. They're both more or less the same: cartoony and silly fun made with enthusiasm. The first is actually a little slow here and there but the second is inventive, less fatty. They're not great movies but they are cute. No need to rush to the Redbox, I guess I'm saying. Try a slow walk.

February: Short month, few films. Ratings out of 10.
2/9 Fanny and Alexander (Ingmar Bergman 7.5)
2/15 Barking Dogs Never Bite (Bong Joon-Ho South Korea, 5.5 and that's generous. Watch his later films.)
2/15 The Lego Movie (7.0)
2/20 Children who Chase Lost Voices (7.5, Japanese, Makoto Shinkai)
2/21 The Way I Spent the End of the World (6.5, Romanian)
2/24 Cavalcade (1933). (7.5)
2/28 The Philadelphia Story (Rewatch, partial) 9.5 of 10. One of my favorite movies of all time.
2/28 The Wind Rises (Miyazaki, 9.0 and may well go higher on rewatches.)

Jason Becker: Not Dead Yet
Tomorrow Night
The Master
Tremors
Taxi Driver (Paul Schrader commentary)
The Funeral
Capote
Dreams With Sharp Teeth
A Man Escaped
The King of New York
The Shawshank Redemption

Not bad for a month that has two to three fewer days in it than the other months.

Interesting. I read the novel and watched the movie a long time ago in school. What did you think of it?
