Post Philip Seymour Hoffman found dead in his apartment
From The Wall Street Journal.

Oh man, this came as quite a shock to me when it came up in my Twitter timeline. I am still reeling from the shock

So far the news reports are not citing any cause of death.

News.com.au reporting that it could be due to an apparent drug overdose.

Still too shocked. Fuck!

God fucking damnit.

NO ONE who likes movies doesn't love this man. He always picked interesting roles, he always gave interesting performances, he never appeared in stupid shit...

Fuck man.

Well that just sucks. One of my favourite actors. Always delivered a top performance, regardless of the role. The industry just lost a major asset, he'll be greatly missed.

Irrespective of how it ended and the inevitable controversy and debate it is going to generate in the press, I connected with Philip Seymour Hoffman through his art, and that is how I am going to remember him for all eternity.

With the exception of Roger Ebert - and a case can be truly made that we all knew him as family through his writing - this is a celebrity death that has genuinely moved me to tears.

It is impossible to talk about him because he made everything matter. I've never seen him give a bad performance. Never ever. He elevated everything he was in.

FUCK!

Seriously, man. Ebert last year and PSH this year. As I said on Facebook -- I was looking forward to 30 more years of him

Just the mere thought of all those performances we'll never get to see is moving me to tears.

The Master. Charlie Wilson's War. Hell, he even elevated generic mainstream films like The Hunger Games, Moneyball and The Ides of March with his mere presence.

Fuck off!

Goddamn fucking shame. Ever since I first noticed him in Boogie Nights he's been one of the most reliable actors working. And only 46, man.

I have just heard the news now and am still in shock. Philip Seymour Hoffman was an amazingly versatile and talented actor, and I have enjoyed his performances in many of the films that he has been in. And he was still so young at 46! He will be greatly missed.

My condolences go out to his friends and family.

who'll play the Penguin now?
It is a shame that he is gone.
He was good actor.
He was also quite the quite actor. Outside of movies you never heard of him.

Holy Shit.

I just clicked on the news to see this. This was unbelievably unexpected. Hoffman was one of the most gifted actors of his generation, and his death is a terrible loss to movies.

I'm struggling to pick a favorite film that he's done. Right now, Capote's looking good.

This is the fucking worst. Our greatest working actor gone at 46, with so many years left. Fuck, man. I love all of his performances, and there are few actors that can get my ass planted in a theater seat as well as Philip.
