Apparently the main (or a more physical) villain is still to be named according Mark Hughes :

Quote:
Warner Bros. has revealed their new Lex Luthor, the villainous businessman set to harass Superman in the upcoming sequel to the $668 million grossing superhero reboot movie Man of Steel. Jesse Eisenberg, best known for portraying Mark Zuckerberg in the Oscar-winning film The Social Network, will take on the role of Luthor, which is expected to be a supporting villain role in the new film, with another villain posing a more direct physical threat to Superman. The identity of a second villain has yet to be officially confirmed, although it’s widely assumed based on word from sources familiar with the production.

Stay tuned 8-)

The same article says that Jeremy Irons will play Alfred. Jeremy Irons definitely is a very cool choice for "Alfred."

Cool, but he has big shoes to fill. Michael Caine was phenomenal, especially in The Dark Knight Rises.

I just noticed that the last official announcement of Warner Bros about the untitled Superman/Batman film, includes Geoff Johns as executive producer

Quote:
The new film is currently being written by Chris Terrio, from a screenplay by David S. Goyer. Charles Roven and Deborah Snyder are producing, with Benjamin Melniker, Michael E. Uslan, Wesley Coller, David S. Goyer and Geoff Johns serving as executive producers.

Geoff Johns is the DC Chief Creative Officer and the one who is writing the Justice League New 52 series. I loved "Justice League Vol 1 Origins" (the recent animated movie : Justice League War is based on his story) and recently ordered Vol 2

Is this movie going to be 5 hours long? Two main villains, 3 main superheroes, and who knows how many more surprises, make for either an extremely long, well done extravaganza (which I wouldn't mind), or a piss poor attempt at copying the Avengers with no build up of any villains or the two superheroes (which would just be another mediocre attempt to make money and explode 13 year olds' heads.)

Not necessarily. Snyder already did a good job building Superman's character in MAN OF STEEL, plus the basics of Batman's backstory are so well-known that there's no need to re-hash them again. I understood why Marvel did a self-contained solo adventure for each Avenger before bringing them all together, but there's no need for DC to do that with these heavyweights. I see probably a 2.5-hour movie here with minimal "setup" scenes.

I do not think so. That's basically the reason the movie business has the profession of editor HaHa

Yes, I think you are in the money, most people know Superman and Batman origins. Probably some minimal "setup" scenes for WW (depending of how long she will be on the screen which at this point looks as an extended cameo).

This meme has been making the rounds on the internets.

Who we wanted for Lex Luthor vs Who we got – The H is extremely important!

Reasons why people wanted Cranston:

1. He's a popular actor.
2. He's bald when he shaves his head.

Which describes a lot of people, really.

Heinsenberg is the drug lord clandestine alias of Walter White in Breaking Bad played by Bryan Cranston

Right on Ken. Look what this article has to say:

Quote:
Ah yes, where did people get the idea Cranston could play a bald villain?

Seriously, is the internet’s foresight that short? I wonder if, before Walter White became Heisenberg, would people have been happy casting the slapstick dad from Malcom in the Middle as the most badass drug dealer on TV?

I remember several years ago when Costner was rumored to be involved with Man of Steel, people speculated that he would be a villain

But yeah, the Cranston rumor. His head was bald, and he has a large fanbase, which some other actors don't.

Just to be clear, I don't care who gets cast as what character. I make up my mind on casting choices after watching the film, not before. But I did find that meme funny.

Another related tweet that made me LOL pretty hard: "'The Social Network' is now a film about how Lex Luthor and Spider-Man set up Facebook"

Same here. I remember when Heath Ledger was cast as The Joker, I was VERY skeptical. And we all know how that turned out. Wow.

Just demonstrates how no actor is safe from the superhero genre.
