Post Most Anticipated Films of 2014
Looked around and couldn't find a similar thread, so I figured I'd go ahead and start one.

What are your most anticipated films for the upcoming year? What kind of film year do you expect? Better or worse than 2013, or just about the same. You can peruse the following Wikipedia link for a list of films scheduled to release in 2014: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2014_in_film

Here's a list of mine for starters:

Interstellar (Christopher Nolan)
The Grand Budapest Hotel (Wes Anderson)
Gone Girl (David Fincher)
The Monuments Men (George Clooney) - I enjoyed the trailer well enough, but my expectations have dropped since this was pushed from a primetime Oscar release to Feb 7th. Hopefully it'll be good.
Inherent Vice (PTA)
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part I
Captain America: The Winter Soldier
X-Men: Days of Future Past
The Amazing Spider-Man 2
How to Train Your Dragon 2 (Loved the first one.)
Sin City: A Dame to Kill For (I had this one notched down for 2013, but looks like it got delayed. The first one remains one of the best comic adaptations I've ever seen)
The Expendables 3 (Enjoyed the first and second, and have a feeling that'll be the reaction for the third as well.)
The Interview (Another Rogen-Goldberg film. I've enjoyed all of them so far, so looking forward to this one.)
Fury (From David Ayer who directed the relentless End of Watch, starring Brad Pitt.)

Those are all films I am personally looking forward to. Others that are of interest are religious epics from Darren Aronofsky (Noah) and Ridley Scott (Exodus).

All in all, I am about as happy as I can be with that lineup. Sure on a personal level, nothing speaks to me like a new Scorsese or Tarantino. But one each from Fincher, Nolan and the Andersons is enough for me to mark down 2014 as one to look forward to.

Interstellar
X-Men: Days of Future Past

The Hobbit: There and Back Again

When I was a kid, my mom used to take all the cereal boxes that were almost empty and mix them all together in one box. She's write "I Don't Know" on the front. Then, anytime she'd ask me what I wanted for breakfast and I'd answer "I don't know", she'd pour me a bowl of the I Don't Know stuff. It was usually pretty good.

I'm sure I had a point with this story.

IMDB description for "Fury" starring Brad Pitt.

Quote:
A crew of Americans in Nazi Germany toward the end of World War II embark on a brave mission.

Hmmmm..

Are you thinking what I am thinking? ;)

Of course, if it is anywhere near the realm of Tarantino's masterpiece, there's going to be more than a strong sense of deja vu with the involvement of Brad Pitt. But End of Watch was one of the best films of 2012 for me, so that gives me a lot of hope for this one.

Of course, how could I forget about RE6? Non-Stop also sounds pretty good.

The Lego Movie
Guardians of the Galaxy - I am a huge fan of Parks and Recreation, and Chris Pratt has been the not-so-secret MVP of that show for a few years now. I'm really excited to see what he can do in this one (and, to a lesser extent, in the Lego movie).
Grand Budapest Hotel - I wasn't the biggest fan of Moonrise Kingdom, but I like Wes Anderson, and the trailer has me completely on board.
Captain America: Winter Soldier
Million Dollar Arm - If this is a Disney baseball movie along the lines of the Rookie, that'd be fine. I'm a sucker for even just decent sports movies.
Edge of Tomorrow
How to Train Your Dragon 2
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes - the last one, I loved almost every ape scene and hated most of the human scenes. Pretty excited to see where they go here.
Interstellar

And my #1 most anticipated movie. X-Men: Days of Future Past. X2 is still my second- or third-favorite superhero movie. I'm beyond excited to see what Bryan Singer can do with his return to this world.

So far, mostly just the latest films of directors whom I follow:

Definitely:
"Boyhood" (Richard Linklater)
"The Monuments Men" (George Clooney)
"The Grand Budapest Hotel" (Wes Anderson)
"Noah" (Darren Aronofsky)
"Interstellar" (Christopher Nolan)
"Inherent Vice" (Paul Thomas Anderson)
"The Hobbit: There and Back Again" (Peter Jackson)
"Midnight Special" (Jeff Nichols)
"The Cobbler" (Thomas McCarthy)
"Men, Women and Children" (Jason Reitman)

Maybe:
"Exodus" (Ridley Scott) - it may be one biblical epic too many. :|
"The Captive" (Atom Egoyan) - his work has been dropping off a bit; even worse, Ryan Reynolds is the lead... so we'll see
"Magic in the Moonlight" (Woody Allen) - he's been hit-or-miss for about 20 years now; which one will this one be?

I'm also interested in "Transcendence."

On a side note, this will be the first year since '05 that Pixar will not release anything. :?

The Monuments Men looked like such Oscar bait. Anyone know why its being relegated to an early February release?

To keep with the tradition of George Clooney releasing the films he directs in 3-year increments?

It wasn't ready in time for it's original December release. So it's being released in February.

Did you read that somewhere? It has been advertised for months now. Seems like if it really was something worthy, they would have done a Dec 31st thing just to get on the list...

Interesting... I will obey The Clooney. He hasn't really let me down yet...

And this nugget shoulda come true...
Quote:
It’s still uncertain whether Paramount also will move Martin Scorsese’s “The Wolf of Wall Street” to 2014. The director is racing to finish the film and should know whether he can within the coming weeks, according to sources.
