Once in the long, long ago. I remembered enough that I knew about the Alec Baldwin monologue and the inspiration for Ol' Gil and Pacino's colorful metaphors, but not the other particulars.

Post Re: Viewing Journal -- 2013
(ratings out of 10)
10/9 Gravity (9)
10/9 eXistenZ (6.5)
10/12 Jesse James Meets Frankenstein's Daughter (3.5)
10/12 Patlabor: The Movie (3)
10/15 Cautiva (7)
10/19 Carrie (2013) (5.5)
10/19 Machete Kills (4.0)
10/20 Shaolin Idiot (4.0)
10/26 Human Desire (6.5)
10/27 Children of the Damned (7)
10/27 Them! (8. rewatch)
10/29 Badlands (6.5. I understand what Malick was doing, but I don't understand why critics think this makes a great film. Good yes, but come on.)
10/31 Breathless (still watching, but around 6.0. Just not connecting, though I like Jean Seberg. Jean-Paul Belmondo is unbearable. I'm mystified why this is a considered a Great Movie.)

That gap at the beginning of the month is partially filled by a bunch of Goofy cartoons, many of which I loved. I've been catching up on my tv shows like "Agents of Shield," "Elementary" and (still) "Grey's Anatomy." On the other hand, the best movie I saw, "Gravity," is currently in theatres, which gives me hope for the future. Overall, the worst month I've had for quite a while.

Flash fact: I was sorely tempted to include episodes of Sherlock in my tally, each of which is feature length.

I wouldn't object. Each of them totally feel like a movie.

This month, consisted of many holidays here, combined with Bangkok's flood situation which put a pause to my social life, helped me accumulate an unhealthy number of movies watched. November is probably going to slim way down.

11/24 The Red and the White (5.5 of 10)
11/24 Manhattan Murder Mystery (7 of 10)
11/25 Tideland (1 of 10)
11/28 Invasion (rewatch) (4 of 10)
11/29 Before Sunset (7.5 of 10)
I'm alternating between 8.5 and 9 on Shawshank and Ender's Game, with Shawshank the better film. I've watched The Goodbye Girl many times, love Richard Dreyfus trying to meet the idiot director's idea of Richard III and his interaction with Quinn Cummings, but still find Marsha Mason annoying enough to drop the film to 8.5 (but not annoying enough to drop it below that).
