Post Episode 35: A Prisoner of Expectations
Once again, we have only one new movie this week, and I'm definitely looking forward to it. Good heads-up move by nitrium to guess a score for Insidious: Chapter 2. I didn't think JB would review it. Having said that, I'll go back to listing potential titles for the week that we talk about via email, regardless of whether they show up under Upcoming Reviews.

Speaking of which.... JB, c'mon man. Why must you skip Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2? It's an instant front-runner for Best Animated Film at the Oscars, I tell you!

EDIT: After hearing from the forum, I decided to take back the 0.5 points. From now on, even if I slightly suspect JB will review a movie, I'll include it in the contest.

Prisoners-- ***1/2

Did you ever mention that people could get points from guessing Insidious 2?

I didn't, but nitrium somehow thought there would be a review, so I decided to reward him. This is a tough one, so I sent everyone a PM to put in a vote.

Prisoners: 3.5 (this is getting very good reviews so far. 81 on metacritic should be good for a 3.5 from JB I'm thinking, although if it drops much from here I'll got to a 3.0).

It costs nothing to enter is what I was thinking. And lets face the facts, I badly need more points.

So do I, still seems like an unfair advantage though.

I have taken back the half-a-point. Don't worry guys, there are plenty of ways to catch up. There's the bonus point for most correct guesses in a month, there's the Double or Nothing mini-game, and I'll also have a bonus round for JB's Bottom 10 and Top 10.

I email JB at least once a week to discuss upcoming reviews. I should've just put Insidious Chapter 2 in from the get-go since there was at least a small chance he would review it. This is how I will approach matters from now on. I apologize for the mix-up.

It wasn't "unfair" really at all. KWRoss posted that JB was possibly going to post a review - if there was zero possibility of a review, I wouldn't have posted a bet, and I'm presuming KWRoss wouldn't have made a post specifically on the possibility of a review if we weren't meant to respond to it - i.e. he gave us ALL a heads up on this - there is nothing "unfair" about that imo. If you didn't take a punt on it that was ENTIRELY your own fault is how I see it. I feel slightly robbed I got nothing for what I see as a valid entry (where in the rules is it written that a heads up for a potential review might not be counted? FFS we bet on JB's non-reviews all the time <cough> Austenland, Only God Forgives, 56 Up!). Further, I totally missed the last minute addition of Short Term 12 a few weeks back - so shouldn't really everyone be docked because **I** wasn't paying attention? All that said, I'm so fucking far behind after Sean's ridiculous 5 point bet for Elysium I'm actually a bit beyond caring .

All valid points. But this issue is now dead and buried. Don't worry, there will never again be a mini-game where you can lose a crap-ton of points just for guessing one movie wrong.

At this stage, I'm using this year as experience for next year's competition (assuming it's run). However, if I somehow lose this year by 0.5 points, I'm appealing to a higher power! ;-).
