Post Guess That Movie: Misleading But Accurate Synopsis Edition
I feel like we've done something like this before. But hell, let's do it anyway!

Pick a movie. Describe the plot of the movie in a way that's factually accurate, but doesn't make it immediately obvious which movie you're talking about.

For example, this famous TV Guide synopsis:

Image

Don't put the title, obviously.

Then we try to guess which movie it is. The first person who guesses correctly gets to go next.

Like the image-based movie game, keep it down to one movie at a time and try not to use a movie that's already been used. Don't write a book, but put at least two or three complete thoughts in your description so that people have a fair chance of guessing it. In keeping with the TV Guide tradition, don't spoil any crucial plot bits.

Also, try not to get too obscure with your movie choice. This game basically depends on taking something that's relatively commonplace and looking at it in an uncommon way.

Be creative and have fun.

---

And because I made the thread, I get to go first:

A man who believes in reincarnation travels to Europe. There, he visits sites he believes he's been to in his past lives. He writes poetry to express his thoughts.

Ok, I'll take a shot at this:

A young man discovers a horrifying truth about the world he lives in. This truth is linked to a prophesy that a messiah will come to save humanity. However, the messiah has to break the rules of the world in order to succeed.

You skipped mine, but I'll ignore it for the sake of getting the game going.

It could be a few movies, but it sounds an awful lot like The Matrix.

You're right. Let Syd know if he got yours.

Frogster's sounds like Harry Potter with voldermort as the serial killer and Sirious black as the convicted mass killer. Out of respect for the rules I'll let Syd go next if I'm right.

That Wizard of Oz example... couldn't that also apply to The Hunger Games more or less? :)

Wow, that thread sounds like a great idea but it is very easy to stall. I think the primary goal should be creativity in the "enigma". It's much more fun reading a synopsis of a well known flick from a completely different angle than the same done with a lesser known flick. Just my humble opinion.

I am thinking for a moment as a musician. You can re-harmonize and re-arrange well known and even bad melodies to sound like a masterpiece.

Not sure... Big?

I'm headed to band practice in a minute, so if I'm right and I haven't posted within an hour or so, someone else can have my turn.

Sweet.

Two coworkers are trapped together in the workplace for months. They have to find ways to get along with each other and also deal with the constant feeling that they're being watched. One day, things go very bad very suddenly.

Yup.

I was worried that my initial description was too vague, so I added more onto it. I should have had more faith.

In the interest of keeping things moving since no one's offered a guess in nearly 24 hours, I'll expand it a bit:

In order to protect his father's life, a man murders two people and then flees to another country where ha falls in love with a woman and they get married. Eventually, the man returns home.

I think I might have gone too far that time. Now Syd make us a misleading synopsis we can't refuse.
