Post 25th anniversary of "Die Hard" - July 15th
Anyone here a fan of this classic action film?

Still kicks ass after 25 years. Yippie-Ki-Yay!

Even "A Good Day To Die Hard"? The one that has Willis sleepwalking through the role? The one with the over-the-top, completely-unrealistic-even-for-Die-Hard action scenes? The one with the whole movie bathed in teal color? The one with little chemistry between Willis and Jai Courtney?

Also the two-year anniversary of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2. I cannot think of another franchise, with the exception of The Lord of the Rings, that went out with such a great bang. Still hoping to see another series end on a high note like that one.

Entirely off-topic, I know, but the only Die Hard I liked was the original.

Yes, i've mentioned enjoying that film before so that really shouldn't came as a surprise. I disagree about Willis "sleepwalking", he looked he was enjoying himself to me, I didn't find the action scenes "unrealistic" at all, I thought they were really well done, never noticed the "teal" color scheme. Wasn't a big fan of Courtney myself, but I chalk tha tup to his relative inexperience in acting, Willis managed to carry him well enough though.

It's been that long, eh?

Regardless, Die Hard is probably the best American action film of the past 25 years. The sequels...not as much. But the original is about as fine an example of action cinema you can find.

Yeah, because a guy pushing 60 who falls though multiple plate glass windows without getting more than a few scratches is totally realistic......

Yeah, no teal whatsoever....

It's no more "unrealistic" then any of the stuff in the other sequels. Also not saying there wasn't any "teal" just saying I never noticed it at the time I saw the film.

Seven posts and no mention of Hans Gruber, probably the greatest action film villain ever :D

Love the film. It's one of my favorite and most rewatchable films. I've probably seen it more than a 100 times.

As for the sequels, they all pale when compared to the first one, but I like the second one. The third one, not so much. Saw the fourth on theaters and had fun with it, but that's about it. Haven't felt like revisiting it. Haven't seen the last one.

Die Hard's definitely in my top 5 action movies of all-time (along wiht ALiens and a couple John Woo movies). The sequels are lesser. But they can be ignored if one chooses.

Still have my ticket from 1988. One of the best theatrical experiences of my life(even with no stadium seating, less leg room etc - not that I needed it back then)

those tv spots really amped me up
