Post The World's End
Is anyone else excited as hell about this?

I can't wait. I'm probably even more excited about this than I was about Skyfall. The premise looks like a brilliant way of ending the "cornetto" series. A pub run (that symbol of the most juvenile of excesses) being used as a metaphor for having to grow up, and save your (and "the") world.

The team of Wright, Pegg and Frost really kick ass. Shaun of the Dead is brilliant, ditto Hot Fuzz.

More of the same please!

Our taste in comedy probably doesn't match up at all if you aren't ridiculously excited to see this. Edgar Wright is the bees knees.

I love Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, and am expecting big, hilarious things out of this one. The best thing about the first two is how they're both a parody of the movies their emulating and a loving tribute to them. Cynicism and sarcasm are easy, but to combine that with genuine affection is really difficult.

Speaking of Hot Fuzz, can we talk about how brilliant the dialogue in that movie is? The jokes and puns come so fast and matter-of-factly that it's really easy to miss them. It's such a smart, funny movie.

2. Nicholas Angel: It's Frank! He's appointed himself Judge, Jury and Executioner.

Danny Butterman: He is not Judge Judy and Executioner.

Danny: How long have you wanted to be a policeman

Nicholas: “Officer"!

Danny: How long have you wanted to be a policeman, officer?

Nicholas: Please, don't be childish. At least consider interviewing the widow. Martin Blower was clearly having an affair with Eve Draper.

Wainwright: Ohh, and how did you establish that?

Butterman: Cause we sat through three hours of so-called acting last night, and the kiss was the only convincing moment in it.

Wainwright: All right, pipe down, biggun'.

Cartwright: Here, what else you got, Crockett and Tubby?

Angel: Skid marks.

Wainwright: Now who's being childish?

Angel: There were no skid marks at the scene!

Nicolas: So Martin Blower deserved to die for that?

Skinner: He murdered Bill Shakespeare!

Nicolas: What?! Oh.

Nicholas: Are they as big as him?

Danny: Who?

Nicholas: His Mother and Sister

Danny: Same person

Nicholas: All right, what about this guy? Ask yourself, why has he got his hat pulled down like that?
Danny: He's fuck-ugly.
Nicholas: Or, he doesn't want you to see his face.
Danny: Yeah, it's 'cause he's fuck-ugly.

Nicolas: You guys know each other?

Danny: Yeah, he's my mother's sister's son(or whatever).

Nicolas: Why didn't you tell me?

Danny: Couldn't see his face, could I? Not made of eyes you know.

It comes out next week in the UK, I believe. I expect NotHugh to see it long before any of us American blokes do, and expect to read his glowing review on this very forum to help increase my excitement.

It's out next Friday here. I'll definitely try see it then.

Typically, after weekends of having nothing planned, next weekend I'm on a drinking, hiking, and more drinking trip to the Lake District. But I'll try fit it in somewhere.
