Don't underestimate the home video market. Lots of movies have gotten sequels because they sold really well on home video. It all depends on the budget.

A sequel could be interesting. I was a bit disappointed by the enclosed scope of the film.

(My review)

Dredd 3D finally debuted in China this weekend:

It has been doing well in blu rays and DVD sales but China might be the last hope for this movie to collect enough money to trigger a sequel :-)

Traditionally the Chinese likes 3D so I am wishing high myself as I loved it!

I thought this was great, fun film. Had low expectations for the film (like most people probably). I think the negative hype is what killed the film plus the first Judge Dredd film. They should definitely do a sequel for the same reason Batman Begins got a sequel even though it didn't do as well as people were hoping.

Anyway, I have to agree with James opinion on Lena Headey's character. For the first half of the film she's shown off as being this bad ass
[Reveal] Spoiler:
but the movie ends with her basically doing nothing much really except talk. They should have had her be more of a fighter. Perhaps the drugs make her go crazy like someone on PCP or something.

No sequel for Dredd, most likely a short according producer
