I thought JJ Abrahms didn't want Shatner, not the other way around

The funny thing about this movie is that there was a huge uproar about the Weinsteins cutting out the cancer plot, but it actually test screened better this way. Even those against who saw the revised cut said that it worked better.

being a Star Wars fan (not fanboy, by the way) I'm a little disappointed you were disappointed by the film. definitely going to try to catch it in theatres, though. the trailer looked hysterical.

I thought the trailer looked mediocre and I'm not surprised by this review.
I still will see it if I get a chance - the idea still intrigues me, having been a Star Wars fanboy myself.

I watched William Shatner on Jonathan Ross's UK BBC chat show last Friday night. Shatner was very clear that he was irritated that he was not invited when Leonard Nimoy was involved in the new Star trek movie.

I read somewhere they offered him a cameo, but he wanted a full role in the movie. He wouldn't back down, so he's not in the movie.

Shatner was also the only crew member not invited to Takei's wedding.

Hi Munroe

You're obviously closer to trek news than me.

Shatner was an odd character on Jonathan Ross. There were times when I though he'd been drinking as he was telling very strange stories that started off with a tale about a gorilla and became increasingly bizarre. He was somewhat all over the place and uncoordinated. Jonathan Ross was often shown to be sitting there with a bemused and embarrassed look on his face. I'm sure this interview will be on YouTube. Hold on :-)

Long time fan, first time poster, he he.

Anyway, I've been looking forward to Fanboys ever since seeing the trailer back in 2006. Although, it seems like a funny diversion, I guess it does seem more of a film to watch on DVD than on the big screen (I don't even think The Weinstein Company even bothered to release this in Canada).
