The male version of Stephanie Meyer. And so the death of Western literature continues...

What are your thoughts on his so-called "novels" and the so-called "film" adaptations of his so-called "books"?

I've seen A Walk to Remember, The Notebook, and Dear John. I was on a quasi-date on the first one and felt thrilled just to be there. I actually ended up enjoying it more than I thought that I would. It's certainly cheesy at times, but I felt that the leads sold the movie pretty well. The Notebook came out in 2004 and was a huge deal to women, so I ended up watching it and felt it was decent, if not spectacular. Dear John I saw in Spain because I had time to kill and wanted to see a movie. It was easily the worst of the three and didn't have much to redeem it.

All things considered, I think his movies are definitely a bit safe but are far from a scourge of cinema.

I despise film adaptions of this talentless hack of an author.

I actually liked most of these movies. I liked Message in a Bottle, A Walk to Remember, The Notebook and while I haven't seen all of it, I did like what I saw of Dear John. But I need to finish it. Message in a Bottle is the best of the bunch. Of course it helps that it has actors like Kevin Costner, Robin Wright and Paul Newman in it.

Didn't care for The Lucky One though. I think the ex husband is such a stupid, cliched, annoying character and, unfortunately, he becomes more important and prominent as the story moves along. The first half isn't bad but the second half blows and totally brings down the movie.

I hate everything involving Miley Cyrus so I never even bothered watching the Nicholas Sparks adaptation she did.

Safe Haven looks meh. I like Josh Duhamel, even though he's been making some pretty questionable choices since Las Vegas ended. And he's not enough to make me think the movie won't be anything above mediocre.

THe Last Song was pretty bad, but ironically it was because of Miley's performance that I found it marginially more tolerable then this other films.

Are you saying Miley Cyrus gave a better performance than Kevin Costner, Robin Wright, Paul Newman, Ryan Gosling, Rachel McAdams, Gena Rowlands, James Garner and Richard Jenkins?

To me his books and the resulting movies are the literary/cinematic equivalent of Celine Dion. Not a fan.

Well I should say attempted to read, I could never get past more then 30 pages or so, it was just too painful to continue, I did glance through the rest of the pages to see if the books ever got any better, but they didn't. IMO Sparks is nearly as bad as Stephanie Meyer.

Funny, seeing as you and I rarely agree.
