Note* I actually like Jerry Bruckheimer movies. He's not the champion of first class entertainment, but when it comes to making summer action movies, there's no one better.

Well I think Bruckheimer is to the movies what Mc Donald's is to food.

Jason Bateman must retire. Ditto for the Wilson brothers.

Show foreign films in mainstream theaters.

Directors must make good short movies before being handed full length ones. Less Marcus Nispels, more Marc Forsters.

No using animal cruelty without a legitimate reason. If you want to shock someone but have to sink that low just to shock them, scrap your project and start over.

Filmmakers that take chances shall be encouraged. Playing safe means less money.

Also, scripts shall be bought and produced based on how good they are, not the resumes of the writers.

Stand-up comics are barred from making movies unless they can prove that they can act.

No family comedy can have a five year old socially awkward genius unless it can be proved that he's different than all the other ones.

Out!

See my old movie rule: Wes Anderson and all those hipster directors can never go behind the camera again.

All right, I'm going to finally bite on this - what, exactly, makes Wes Anderson a hipster? A hipster is someone incapable of taking anything seriously, and everything they do is done ironically. They don't care about anything, or at least that's the vibe they consciously attempt to put out there. Even if you don't like Anderson's movies, they aren't exactly dripping with irony, and he undoubtedly cares about certain things - most notably family dynamics, as every one of his movies revolves around that concept.

I think (and far be it from me to defend him) that movemkr is referring to a self-awareness and perceived pretension in Wes Anderson's work. I should mention that I found Rushmore to fit that description, but Moonrise Kingdom will be on my end of the year Top 10

That's a fair criticism, but I don't think that qualifies him as a hipster. I just don't really think that's what a hipster is.

And I agree with you on Rushmore. Or, at least as much as I can remember. I saw it close to 10 years ago, wasn't impressed, and haven't revisited. I think The Life Acquatic is kind of terrible, but I loved both The Royal Tenenbaums and Moonrise Kingdom.

I'd much rather be around a person who's actually aware of his intelligence than one who's oblivious to his ignorance. :|

Me too. Unfortunately being oblivious to one's ignorance is part of being ignorant. And yep, it's usually easier and more comfortable being around intelligent people. At the very least you know they understand what you are saying. Makes communication so much easier.

Stage plays? TV? Acting lessons? Auditions? Screen tests?
Yes I understand the "Catch 22" of screen acting, which you are pointing out. But there are better ways to pick an actor than just handing a role to a stand-up comedian.

Will Ferrell can never work with Adam McKay again!

Indeed. While ignorance may be bliss, it's still ignorance. :|
