Oh wow I didn't remember The Da Vinci Code getting quite so panned. I mean, sure, it was terrible, but I figured the prestige attached to it would keep it above 25%

Angels & Demons' rating isn't even that low (37%).

Glad i'm not the only one who likes "Ballistic" I enjoyed Battlefield Earth in a so-bad-it's-good way, Travolta's scenery chewing performance was hilariously awesome on so many levels. Surviving Christmas was decent as well, it's one of Stiller's more underrated films, though I kinda liked Kranks too, even though I agree that the message was very hypocritical and misguided. HATED White Noise though, stupid stupid movie.

Now get ready for another long list, here's all the films 25% or less that I enjoyed:

Rollerball remake
Catwoman
Ultraviolet
Bucky Larson
Wing Commander
Jack And Jill

The prestige attached no doubt added to the anti-climax.

And you're right, it truly is a terrible film.

Da Vinci Code would've been better if it wasn't so frigging long, Never Back Down was OK, but I liked the DTV sequel better.

Lets see...

- Film (RT) (My Score) -

Bad Boys II (23%) (8.5) - Love this movie; quite possibly the most brainless action diversion ever.
The Ugly Truth (13%) (6.5/10) - I appreciated the R-rating.
The Ex (19%) (7/10) - Messy, but I laughed a lot.
The Boondock Saints (17%) (9/10) - A classic critic/viewer departure.
The Tooth Fairy (18%) (6.5/10) - Love The Rock, and again, it made me laugh.
Saw IV (17%) (8/10) - As a Saw fan, this is the best of the bunch.
The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (17%) (7/10) - Very underrated superhero film.
The Life of David Gale (19%) (8/10) - Some find it manipulative, I found it more potent.
Wild Wild West (21%) (7/10) - A youth, cable TV favourite.
Assassins (16%) (7.5/10) - A snappy, underrated action flick I enjoyed as a teenager.

Wow, I didn't realize Boondock Saints was that poorly reviewed. I like it too, even if I don't think it's quite as great as everyone else who lived in my dorm thought it was. Somewhere below Lock Stock and Snatch on the movies-inspired-by-Pulp Fiction list.

I agree, more or less, on League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. I enjoy it enough and it's a fun watch when it shows up on cable. Something like a strong **1/2 or weak ***.

Agreed with all of your choices except Saw IV, I hated that film along with all the other sequels. Speaking of The Rock, i'd also like to throw in the Walking Tall remake(24%) it was a pretty cool vigilante film. Some other low-rated rom-coms I enjoyed are Say It Isn't So, A Guy Thing, and The Sweetest Thing.

I didn't realize Walking Tall was that badly reviewed. I remember thinking it was all right. Nothing truly great, but not terrible.

Haha, the dorm room was when I first saw it too. Watching The Boondock Saints must be a post-secondary right of passage. :D

It's just so damn entertaining! A cross-dressing Willem Dafoe! You can't go wrong!

Sucker Punch has a 23% rating but I thought it was more mediocre/ambitious failure (2.5 stars) with some interesting elements but horribly structured, as opposed to all the people who listed it as one of the worse films of the year.

Edit: that is according to Rotten Tomatoes.

I also don't understand why so many people disliked Wild Wild West. Good movie, more creative and humerous than the Aliens and Cowboys, and I thought Aliens and Cowboys was a decent 3 star film.

...you don't understand why so many people disliked Wild Wild West? Did you miss the scene in which Will Smith explains, at length, how his paddling of a woman's breasts related to African tribal custom?

Who could forget!

P.S. I wonder how much they paid Kenneth Branagh. He was kinda great regardless.

Even Will Smith admitted he wasn't too proud of Wild Wild West, he even apologized to the creator of the TV series.

I remember seeing The Happening (RT 18%), and thought it was absolutely, amazingly, hilariously incompetent. Every scene I just couldn't believe the stupidity of what I was seeing on screen. By the time Marky Mark started talking to the plastic tree I just lost it, and was howling with laughter for the rest of the film. Probably one of the most unexpectedly entertaining times I've had at the cinema. Terrible, terrible movie, but I found a certain charm in how unintentionally nuts the whole thing was. I kinda dug it in a way.

Haha yeah, that movie is impossible to take seriously. I enjoyed it for exactly the same reasons you did.

I head that Will Smith turned down the part of Neo in the Matrix to do Wild Wild West.

Any regrets, Will?

I agree with The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Life of David Gale, and Assassins from that list.

The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen is a mess but it is entertaining trash. I can't quite grasp why David Gale is so badly received. I watched it about 8 years ago and found it to be a solid 7/10. And Assassins is great fun.

Thanks for bringing these to the attention of our esteemed club.

Yes, several. Sure Will says he wouldn't be good enough to do The Matrix but I'm sure he still cries himself to sleep every night.
