 Lord of the Rings
Over the past few years I have become a total Lord of the Rings nerd. I've read all the books and seen each film about 10+ times. I was wondering what some of your favorite scenes are. The ones that really stick out to you. I'd be really curious to hear what James has to say.
Some of mine include: The Rohirrim Cavalry Charge(both, but especially in return of the king), The Defeat of Sauron, The entire prologue in Fellowship, The Haradrim Charge, The future death of Aragorn, The eagles saving frodo and sam, the end of all things, the first shot of the Balrog, opening of TTT. There is more but we'll leave it at that for now.

I love the Rohirrim charge at the siege of Minas Tirith, too, including Theoden's omigod look when he sees the oliphaunt. One of my favorites is the lighting of the signal towers to summon the Rohirrim. There are some very good scenes between Theoden and Eowyn showing the love between the king and the niece who is effectively his daughter.

 Re: Lord of the Rings
The scene with the Balrog was pretty impressive, as was the battle of Elenor fields.
Some scenes that struck me were the scenes with Faramir coming to realize how deep his father's preference for his brother went. A lot of this was deleted in the theatrical cut, but it was expanded upon in the Blu Ray Extended Edition.

 Re: Lord of the Rings
In the books, I love the lord of the nazgul faceoff with Gandalf that gets interrupted. Theoden's Rohirrim charge is great in both, I think his movie speech is greater than Aragorns. in the movies I love Boromir's fight being visualized and Gandalf's Balrog battle being visualized much more, especially the look of determination when he grabs Glamdring in free fall off the bridge of Khazad-dum. the movies also dramatized the fire signals much better. The desperate charge at helm's deep was much more amazing in the books imo, though.
So many good moments in both!
