THE CABIN IN THE WOODS
LOCKOUT
THE RAVEN
GAMBLE: THE LUCKY ONE
GAMBLE: THE FIVE YEAR ENGAGEMENT

Trying something different for this round. If you ask me, one gamble might be a little easier than the other.

Peter Lord can eat it.

The Cabin in the Woods- *** This is getting some of the best reviews of any recent horror film (much like The Raid was one of the most critically-acclaimed of recent action films, Ebert notwithstanding) so hopefully it'll get positive marks from James as well.

Lockout - ** Looks like the second lackluster film in a row that Guy Pearce has chosen to appear in this year, following Seeking Justice.

The Raven - ** And this doesn't look much better despite the participation of Mr. Cusack (although admittedly he hasn't exactly been on a hot streak lately); it's already getting raked across burning coals by most critics.

The Lucky One - ** 1/2 Great, another Nicholas Sparks adaptation. Isn't James getting sick of subjecting himself to these? At least the acting in this one looks solid and it has the advantage of Scott Hicks in the director's chair.

The Five Year Engagement - *** The re-teaming of Jason Segel with Nicholas Stoller, the duo who gave us Forgetting Sarah Marshall; I think this will do just fine although it might be slightly more serious since it revolves around a couple on the brink of marriage.

I'm gonna abstain from gambling this time being that it didn't bode too well for me last time (at least I broke even but still).

I don't want to hear anything about The Cabin in the Woods plot wise. The news I'm hearing is just go in completely blind.

Lockout, Raven, Nick Sparks...meh.

But I'm hype on Segel and Stoller. Marshall is one of my favorite comedies.

Good luck nuckas...

I'm really excited to see Lockout this weekend, Die Hard in space is too awesome of a concept for me to pass up.

I suppose Die Hard in space is one way of looking at it. But it's more like Escape from New York in space since the premise for Lockout is virtually the same as the John Carpenter cult classic. Personally, I wasn't a fan of Escape from NY. Lockout looks much more enjoyable. Plus, I'll pretty much watch Guy Pearce in anything. The guy rocks. And Maggie Grace (she'll always be Shannon to me) is HOT! :P

I wasn't that big on Escape From NY myself, Escape From L.A. was alot more enjoyable for me, I do hope that Escape From Earth gets greenlit one of these days. I too love Maggie Grace, between this film and Taken 2, it looks like she's really coming along as an actress this year, and Guy Pearce could become the next Jason Statham if this film is a success.

Um, no. Guy Pearce is a better actor than Jason Statham! And this is coming from a Jason Statham fan!

The Cabin in the Woods - 3.0 (This is the one I'm most not sure about; could go either 3.5 or 3.0. Gonna see it anyway; absolutely a fan of Joss Whedon)
Lockout - 2.0
The Raven - 2.0

The Lucky One - 2.5 (0.5)
The Five Years Engagement - 3.0 (0.5)

I know he's a better actor, I just meant that if Lockout if is a success, then he might star in more action films and take a similar path to Statham.

Basically, what Vex is suggesting (and I hope he's wrong) is that he might pull a Liam Neeson!
