 Disappointed
I'm surprised more people aren't disappointed with the show. I am enormously disappointed. The last few episodes have laagggggeeeddddddddd when taking the entire show structure into account.
I feel like, given the "promises" and hooks from the first season, we deserve certain answers regarding...
1. The Baltar and Six connection 2. Baltar's acceptance or change of his cowardice 3. Kara and Lee hooking up (The boxing episode!! What was that about if they don't??) 4. Finding Earth, finding some safe haven.
I will be disappointed in the show if it doesn't address most of these. It can't just end without honoring the journey; it can't introduce hooks and leave them unsolved; it can't deus ex machina us, short-sighting the ending and hoping we won't notice. And it looks like it might.
Disclaimer: I'm fond of Baltar, so #2 is a bit personal. Still, they hammered his cowardice into us throughout season 1 and arguably season 3.5-4.0. I do expect some character arc or some tragic closure. *holds up hands* Hang me.

 Re: Disappointed
#4 is the only one I would count on. And really, it's the only important one, as long as it's done well. I accepted #1 a long time ago as just a story-telling mechanic that they were never going to explain. #2 as just some slightly sloppy character development (but not that outrageous-I rarely think about it). #3 seems like it won't happen now that Kara is apparently someone else, and that's fine. I've already come to accept that a lot of the hooks we've been given were just that, and they really had no grand plan in place. It's disappointing, yes--but I'm not going to hold out hope for them to solve certain things for us before the end. I think the best plan at this point might just be to go along for the ride and hope for the best with this little time left.

 Re: Disappointed
Of course you're right. As a writer it's hard for me to be tolerant of behavior I treat as fallacy in my own experience. Yes. Yes it is that epic. But that's just me.

 Re: Disappointed
Yeah, I know what you mean. And somewhere in the back of my head I am still hoping that everything gets completely tied together in the last episode and it makes me re-evaluate this season, and it's the best thing on television ever. That is seeming less and less likely, though.

 Re: Disappointed
I'm withholding back on making comments until it's all over. I can recall being very disappointed with the fourth/last season of "Blake's 7" then being blown away by the final episode. Cut Moore some slack until everything has played out. Personally, I don't need all the questions answered. A little ambiguity is okay. What I want is something dramatic and emotionally satisfying (even if the emotion evoked is sadness). And it's not like he's unfamiliar with endings - he was involved in wrapping up both TNG and DS9.

 Re: Battlestar Galactica (SPOILERS WELCOME)
Last night was shockingly low-key for Part I of a three-part season (and series) finale. I mean it was nice and set things up and all.... but damn, the last 2 hours must really be crammed (I hope ). The flashback to Caprica seemed pretty inconsequential, but then again, I thought the same about the finale in Lost Season 3 at first. And that show blew me away. Let's hope BG continue in the same vein. Also, Laura Roslin's appearance on the hangar deck almost drew a tear from me.

 Re: Battlestar Galactica (SPOILERS WELCOME)
I loved the episode. It was a great "calm before the storm" show. I enjoyed those flashback scenes giving us even more depth into some of those primary characters and that last scene with Roslin crossing the tape was pitch perfect. These last couple episodes were a huge recovery from that, IMO, awful one with Tigh's baby problems.

Everybody pumped?! This season has not been as strong as most, but I'm still hoping for a powerful conclusion tonight.

 Re: Battlestar Galactica (SPOILERS WELCOME)
I am SO glad at how they decided to do this finale. Let loose in the 1st hour with all the action and get it all sorted out and then give us the final hour with the actual characters because that's what this show has been about for me. This last hour on Earth was exactly the type of ending I wanted from this show.
It's similar to how I felt at the end of DS9. It was a fantastic show and at the end it gave us time with the core characters that we essentially lived with for 7 years.

 Re: Battlestar Galactica (SPOILERS WELCOME)
Excellent finale. I can't help thinking that this could have come at the end of season 3, with how little happened in s4, but the finale actually did redeem a lot of the season for me. There was a little too much emotional tying up of every loose end, but you expect that from a finale. The ultimate message fit, and I was hoping they would do something like that. I loved hearing the original BSG theme music again. I loved the end of Roslyn and Adama. Pretty much everything was near perfect. The special effects, and then the Earth photography were all absolutely gorgeous-they spent their budget well. Full Review

 Re: Battlestar Galactica (SPOILERS WELCOME)
Well done. In the end the plot didn't matter. They managed to wrap things up plot wise enough for me to be satisfied, but more importantly they gave the characters the send off they deserved.

 Re: Battlestar Galactica (SPOILERS WELCOME)
What a fitting finale. It got very emotional , and now Adama and Roslin would go down in the top 10 of my favorite romances. It's amazing how far both of them has come from the beginning. Starbucks arc is good too. The final shot of her was perfect. But... no more BSG ...

 Re: Disappointed
So, hurray. I was obviously happy. (Although dang, I cried. "The bird... *sniffle*... flew out the window! *sob*") I LOVE what they did to Kara and Lee. As a tragedy junky, that was more poignant to me than those characters making babies. And LOL to Hera's continual insignificance: "This girl is EVERYTHING. OMG, let's save her so her bones... can, um, be... found later." Good Ronald Moore cameo at the end. Wasn't in love with everything after Adama sitting at the cabin (the Hera scene and the angels in present day). But whatever. Satisfying finale.

 Re: Disappointed
Ummmm . . . insignificance? The bones they found were part of a reveal that Hera was our single common ancestor--our mitochondrial Eve. Without her there'd have been no us . . . I've read a variety of reactions to that reveal (both good and bad), but I have to admit that insignificant is the only one I'd flat out disagree with. I'm guessing you missed that part . . . ?

 Re: Battlestar Galactica (SPOILERS WELCOME)
My only quibble, and it's probably a bit more than a quibble, is the way they wrapped up Galen. It didn't feel right to me. The rest, particularly Adama and Roslyn, felt right, and in fact this was a rare TV episode that's actually settled better with me the more I've thought about it. But tragic or redemptive, I think Galen's character deserved more than, well, what he got. What say you?
