That certainly peeks my curiosity even more, dissapointing ti hear that it's too talky, but the same could be said about many other films. Also I watch a lot of low-budget films(including those Sci-Fi channel original films) some i'm used to less-then-stellar effects, so if those are the worst sins, then count me in!

too bad, I was hoping this would be better than the first

Marvel Studios did not make this movie by the way. Sony did. Sony wanted to keep the rights to the character so they rushed this into production. If Marvel Studios made it it probably would have been a lot better

Woah, actually I expected it to be better than the ridiculously mediocre first instalment. It seams Neveldine and Taylor are incapable of making anything not related to the Crank films :S oh well...

hopefully Cage will be back to making decent movies. Soon.

Marvel was involved, under the moniker of "Marvel Knights."

Well his next film, Seeking Justice(which comes out this March) sounds pretty intriguing.

JB, I would never want to subject you to these terrible movies. BUT, I have to say I enjoy your scathing reviews at least as much as your positives. You have a gift for writing witty, barely polite disdain.

The line about 0-D killed me.

+1, sir. 8-)

Entertaining review for a flick I'll never see...

According to Box Office Mojo, this film grossed less last night than The Vow. When your film is beaten on opening night by a romance flick that's on its 2nd weekend (after Valentine's Day no less), you know it sucks. Also, if the budget of the film was really $75 million, then this could end up being the first big bomb of the year.

Losing to The Vow wouldn't surprise me. Post-Titanic, I never underestimate the power of rabid teenage girls. Funny the review mentioned Drive Angry, because I thought Lussier and Farmer would have been a much better choice for this.

Well this was an OK film, a slight improvement over the first, for one thing the action scenes were better-directed (that crane demolition scene was pretty wicked as was the end car chase) and for only 75 million, the visuals looked pretty good, better then some films with twice the budget. Cage really looked to be enjoying himself, the guy playing Roarke on the other hand wasn't very interesting and sounded like he was reading off cue cards the whole time, Elba was competent, but he's done better, and it does admittedly get a bit too talky at times, so i'd say this film is at best a rental, also I opted to see this in 2-D as I wasn't keen paying a surcharge.

Also, Eva Mendes was actually offered the chance to reprise her role from the first film, but turned it down.

I have to protest your remarks aimed at Marvel. Their most recent batch of offerings has been their best yet (specifically the Avengers related entries). I doubt that anybody is expecting the up coming Spider Man movie to be any good, especially if the 'teaser trailer' was anything to go by.

The Avengers, however... assuming that Joss Whedon has at least read a 'Directing for Dummies' book prior to filming, it should be awesome stuff.

Back on topic - never seen the original Ghost Rider and know nothing about the comic. I'm baffled though as to how a demon riding a bike could be considered 'boring' =/ maybe if it was about a Dragon wearing a leather jacket...

Actually quite a few people are looking forward to the new Spider-Man film, especially after alot of people were let down by Spider-Man 3(though I wasn't one of them, I actually enjoyed that film)

what I mean is that this movie (along with the new Spider-Man coming out) are not produced by Marvels in house studio. The Marvel name is only on it because it is based on a Marvel character

the Marvel movies that have actually been produced by Marvel are Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, Thor, Captain America, and the upcoming The Avengers.

Sony did not want the rights to go back, that is why they made this, despite no one really liking the first and the first one not even being a big hit

Even with the scathing remarks at least it got one full star to leave some downside room for future turkeys. The year is still young. You're in fine form with this one JB. There is an art to negative criticism without coming across like a pissy Rex Reed.

The one person retained from the previous movie probably should have been Sam Elliott instead of Cage. I mean even The Big Lebowski wouldn't have been as big without him. Sam can be picky though (ahem), and probably didn't think this re-whatever was even up to the standard of Road House.

In the main page, it says under the title, a contender for the worst movie based on a character from a major comic book. Worse than, gasp(!!!) the Catwoman movie with Halle Berry?

There isn't a tongue in cheek smilie available. Kind of the same fashion as Mr. Elliott's narration style in Lebowski.

The first Ghost Rider had moments of hysterical unintentional comedy. That's the only reason I can envision for ever wanting to see the new one.

That's an interesting question, actually. Catwoman started out as an adaptation of the DC character, but was altered partway into production to be its own independent story. Does it still count?

The sequel has quite a bit more humor then the first film, so it's got that going for it as well.
