Lucas explains that we were "confused" on who shot first.

Post Lucas explains that we were "confused" on who shot first.
In a recent Interview with the Hollywood Reporter, George Lucas explains that audiences were just confused on whether Han shot first and that's why he changed it. He says he never intended for anyone to think that Han shot first, and a cold blooded personality was never supposed to be a part of Han's character arc.

As if we needed more proof that Lucas is out of touch with reality...

I bet Lucas' bank account isn't confused... I think the only thing more pathetic than the product this hack director puts out, is the blind loyalty of his fan boys. They hold him to NO STANDARD. He reissues the same movies, the same toys, the same EVERYTHING, and these diehards buy it up and cry about it later. And it's all predicated on the idea of what Star Wars USE to stand for in the 70's. That man hasn't made a good film in 30 years. Yet the "critics" are anything but. They willfully bow at the Lucas throne and give him four stars for anything he does. James is especially bad at doing this. I can't wait to see what he says about Menace in 3D. "OH IT'S THE BEST FILM OF MY LIFE!" C'mon James. You WANT to say it. Kiss the Lucas ring. You pick and prod every other film that comes out. You criticize the plot points, character development, and pacing. But when Star Wars arrives, you turn your brain off and look the other way. So much for professional integrity. Everyone has their list of B movies they like without justification for the art. But James can't admit he likes bad movies when it comes to Lucas. He HAS to justify the bad elements and offer up a untruthful rating to satisfy his fan hood. I think that is misleading. And have you seen what Lucas has been saying about the Star Wars fans? He's rolling them all under the bus. Fans are revolting. It's about freaking time some of these people figured this guy out.

Lucas is delusional. What reason does Greedo even have to take the first shot at Han? Greedo is talking about delivering Han to Jabba and threatening that "maybe he will just take your ship", which presumes Han would be alive to see that. Solo has his blaster under the table and out of view. There is the implied threat of Han: "over my dead body" Greedo: "That's the idea", but that doesn't mean that Greedo intends to execute him right there.

Under these circumstances, I don't see Han as quite the "cold blooded murderer" that people are implying. He is under duress, at gun point, and Greedo isn't exactly the most up and up of characters. Solo as bad-ass? Sure. Murderer...not so much.

"Bounty hunters; we don't need their scum."

To be fair, we all have our films that we like even though most other people don't. One of mine is Equilibrium, which is essentially a B-grade action flick that most critics couldn't even be bothered to review.

Well to be fair that's mostly the fault of Dimension films, since they cut the films planned 2000 screen release down to a mere 500, so alot of critics didn't get the opportunity to see it. I definitely agree with you on it being overlooked though, it's a damn good film and it's a shame it wasn't more recognized. There's loads of films I like that most people hated, quite a few on IMDB's 100 worst films were enjoyable for me.

That is definitely my favorite picture in this thread. I hope the right arm is also waving like those gold-colored toy cats, the most brilliant definition of cheezy I have ever seen.

Why the heck are people still even talking about the Greedo scene? Han Solo was clearly cleverly and in a very cool way getting out of a tight spot. He distracted Greedo by leaning, seemingly relaxed, against the back wall and scraping randomly with his left hand, while slowly talking out the gun strapped onto his leg under the table, catching Greedo off guard. The fact that Han shoots first - and kills - made him seem totally cool and I understood that he had to, because the guys he had to deal with would have killed him. It all has been explained already.
I guess the change had been made because Lucas took political correctness and anmial (=alien) cruelty too much at face value..... what a nutcase!
Now can I please have some more of these photos of small dogs in costumes or children dressed as prawns or any kind of seafood. Thanks.
