Re: TWILIGHT: BREAKING DAWN PART ONE
You mis-spelled her first name (3 times). (Maybe I'm sensitive since I have a relatively common first name but not with the most common spelling (though more common than Stephenie, which I have never seen anywhere else).)

Re: TWILIGHT: BREAKING DAWN PART ONE
This movie should be called Twilight: They Finally Have Sex.
And I really don't see any need to make a two-part movie out of this other than typical Hollywood greed. When Tarantino split Kill Bill, he had a legitimate artistic purpose for doing so, but this is just crap.

Dakota Fanning's character doesn't appear in the first half of Breaking Dawn. She should be there in Part 2. Yes...I've read the books.

Re: TWILIGHT: BREAKING DAWN PART ONE
Did he? What was it? I honestly never figured that one out, since I don't see why he couldn't have just made one good, lean movie rather than a good one and a shit one (well not shit but overly long and with a jarring change of tone towards the end). I've never seen any movie regarding Werewolves where the creatures look even remotely good. I don't get why it's so hard to accomplish! The best 'creatures' in my eyes are the Wolves in 'Blood&Chocolate' where they actually just filmed real ones. Done.

No he didn't, Miramax told him to cut Kill Bill in half and he did. Also....childbirth, are you actually saying that this happens in the movie: C-section with the teeth? Broken spine? Puking up fountains of blood?

Re: TWILIGHT: BREAKING DAWN PART ONE
I don't see why you can't have actors in extensive werewolf makeup these days. That stuff usually looks pretty good if done well. As for "Kill Bill", I haven't figured it out either whether or not splitting the film in two was truly done for commercial or artistic reasons.

The same could be said of the palaver in "Breathless."

Re: TWILIGHT: BREAKING DAWN PART ONE
Cutting a movie in two; certainly is wow, on many levels. However what else have studios done to gain money at the expense of creativity?
-Greenlighting remakes/reboots/sequals/etc
-Engineering the use of certain actors that are a draw regardless of how well they fit the part (probably not a studio thing but hey)
-Brought about the death of the medium of film becuase digital is cheaper (also attributed to directors' 'vision')
-The attempted phasing out of 2D showings (again, directors claim this is a creative thing but studios won't give a shit about this)
Too tired right this minute to think about much else. Thank god for people like the UK Film Council eh!

The movie showing as Edward stalks his victim is THE BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN.

Re: TWILIGHT: BREAKING DAWN PART ONE
I've never read any of the Twilight books, but something tells me that they might, perhaps, possibly, not be deep enough to require two movies per book.
Just a speculation.

The last book's over 700 pages long. The first 200 is the wedding and honeymoon. The next 300 is the horrors of pregnancy. The last 200 is: Training for a fight that turns into a diplomatic discussion.

Re: TWILIGHT: BREAKING DAWN PART ONE
So in other words, that shit really, really needs to be cut down to about 80 minutes at most?

Re: TWILIGHT: BREAKING DAWN PART ONE
If so, then I stand corrected. I always thought he did it since the two films are so different in tone.

Re: TWILIGHT: BREAKING DAWN PART ONE
From what I've read (in both an interview with Tarantino and James Mottram's book "Sundance Kids") Tarantino realized he had a four hour movie on his hands and was agonizing on what to cut. Then Harvey Weinstein suggested making it two movies. At that point he know immediately where to split them in half and what tone to go for for each movie.

That must be one of the biggest cop outs in literature history.

Re: TWILIGHT: BREAKING DAWN PART ONE
Where to begin... that shite Japanese all girl punk band (don't recall the name) was about as fitting as a warm up comedian at a funeral. They could have been removed and not been missed. Other than that the first movie was pretty well paced, I'd not have changed much... maybe dispensed with the absolutely pointless 'English language speech' about her butt-hurt at people's racism etc. It's the second movie where the pacing was just fucked up. The conversation towards the end with Bill was just long and tedious, and then the ending was just... a shocking let down. I honestly couldn't believe how cheated I felt. I know Tarantino is all about the blabbering, and in 'Basterds' it's pretty much 99% good content but 'Kill Bill' just seemed so full of shit in that respect. Meh. Anyway back on topic, I'm going to have to watch/read these stories now. I've reached a point where it seems more than likely that people are ragging on Myers and her creation for the sake of rebelling against it's popularity, rather than taking genuine issue with her 'artistic vision'. Of course I could be wrong but it's good to know for sure.

Re: TWILIGHT: BREAKING DAWN PART ONE
Have you tried reading TWILIGHT? Storyline aside, on a purely mechanical level, it is horribly written. Without exaggeration, I know high school freshman who could write better prose. On that basis alone, the movie is an improvement. The TWILIGHT saga is not horrible, but it's not terribly good, either. I never wanted to flee screaming from the theaters during any of the four movies but neither was I particularly engaged. While I can understand the popularity of HARRY POTTER and SEX AND THE CITY, I can't understand what makes TWILIGHT so loved. Popularity isn't an issue with me, but quality of experience is.
