There goes 2 for 3 for me.

Was this an 'Oliver And Company'-level Disney atrocity?

At least it still looks better than The Game Plan, even though The Rock should probably Rock Bottom and do the People's Elbow on kiddie scripts(not family scripts, just kiddie) from now on.

This kind of movie is tailor made for parents to drop the kids off to see it while they go see something more aimed at adults. Kids in the 8 to 13 range the film is aimed at won't mind getting an hour and a half away from mom and dad, while mom and dad can go watch something more stimulating mentally. Any parent who sits through this kind of film deserves what they get ;)

When the synopsis has cynicism in it, you know this must have been bad!

Aaargh! Two out of three this week. Why didn't Last House on the Left suck as much as other horror remakes?

Don't lose hope. I'm sure there are plenty of truly sucky horror remakes on their way...

Yeah, both Possession and The Stepfather look godawful, the former stars Srach Michelle Gellar, which is usually a bad sign, and the latter is helmed by the director of Prom Night. Plus the upcoming remake of Let The Right One In just got a name change and a really lame one at that-the new title is-Let Me In, come on! That's got to be the absolute WORST horror title ever.

Ha ha! The People's Elbow...good lord do I miss The Rock. Had to change his name to Dwayne, didn't he...

Oh, I disagree.

I think that STAR TREK V is an immensely quotable movie.

And it's certainly a lot more fun to watch than INSURRECTION. Plus, it has Laurence Luckinbill delivering a likable performance against all odds along with Nimoy and DeForest Kelly making the job of holding onto their dignity seem effortless.

*SPOILERS for STAR TREK V*

[Reveal] Spoiler:
And am I the only one who finds the flashback of McCoy euthanizing his father to be a remarkably strong scene considering the movie that it's surrounded by?

Race to Witch Mountain a remake of Escape to Witch Mountain Can't believe that they remade this movie twice!

The main problem was the pacing. It moved at breakneck speed with the only pauses provided by failed Dwayne Johnson one-liners. The pace might have been necessary to cover up the plot holes, I suppose.

I thought the kids were very good though, esp. AnnaSophia Robb (hadn't seen her in anything before). I believed them as aliens, even if nothing else in the film was believable.

She is a very promising young actress. If you aren't familiar with her, check out A Bridge to Terabithia and Sleepwalkers. She's also in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

She is, by the way, the only reason I saw this movie. Had she not been in it, I would have likely given it a pass.

I'll do that. I've heard nothing but good things about it.

Well I didn't read the book and I didn't have the hankies, my eyes were defenseless while I cried my unmanly tears. I want to save other guy's eyes from this fate

Thanks for the warning. I will be sure to think manly thoughts and gird my tear-ducts during the film.
