Post Re: Golden Globe Noms
I'm happily stunned to see the nominations for Gordon-Levitt and his movie. No chance at an Oscar nod, but it's nice to see this here.

I'm also happy to see Bullock, although I don't know that The Proposal needed a nomination.

I still fail to see anything exceptional about The Hangover, and still have faith that the Acadamy will overlook this, but the nomination here is sad.

Also, how amazing is it that in a year when Morgan effin' Freeman plays Nelson effin' Mandela, he might be easily behind the leaders? It's Clooney vs Bridges down the stretch, I have to think. Also very happy to see Maguire get a nod, I heartily believe he needs to get the same from Oscar.

Post Re: Golden Globe Noms
My thoughts:

~It's nice to see Avatar considered for Best Picture. It'll probably lose to The Hurt Locker or Up in the Air, but nice nonetheless.
~It's not really that nice to see It's Complicated considered for Best Picture.
~The choices for Best Actor in a Drama were fairly predictable. I don't know what to make of Tobey Maguire. I would have been happier with Sam Rockwell, personally.
~I was a little blindsided (har har) by Emily Blunt being honored for The Young Victoria, but it's a happy blindsiding. Sandra Bullock... not so much on both accounts.
~Bigelow's officially the frontrunner for Director and Tarantino should officially be considered more heavily.
~I'm really happy to see Michael Stuhlbarg get a Best Actor nod.
~It's between Streep and Cotillard for Best Actress.
~Really? Matt Damon still got a nod for Invictus? What happened to Alfred Molina? Oh well, I'm just happy Harrelson snuck his way in there. Usually HFPA goes for more comedic mentions here. What about Zack Galifianakis or maybe even Peter Capaldi? On another note, no love for In the Loop?
~I don't have much to say about Supporting Actress.
~Hooray for The Maid!
~No love for Mary and Max. X[
~1. It's Complicated got a screenplay nomination. 2. District 9 got a screenplay nomination. Guess which one's awesome.
~After seeing Fantastic Mr. Fox for a second time today, it should definitely be a contender for Best Original Score.
~Good choices for Original Song, but I'm surprised to see that nothing from The Princess and the Frog got noticed. Certainly "Almost There" is a more accomplished song than Winter or I Want to Come Home. I don't care if you're Paul McCartney.

All in all, good job, HFPA.

I completely agree. That was the best score I've heard all year.

Very happy about Jeff Bridges' nomination. He was seriously amazing in Crazy Heart.

Happy to hear that. I'm just wondering if this will be worth seeing by those of us who aren't country music fans.
