We can see they belong together, but Jerry and Lucy Warner (Cary Grant, Irene Dunne) need to learn this. They are on the cusp of a divorce. They no longer trust each other, nor find each other fun, funny or appealing. The divorce is granted, and will be final in 90 days, but the matter of visitation for Mr. Smith –the pet dog that first brought them together- has to be settled. Through these visitations and a few chance restaurant meetings, the two have a window on each other’s lives and love interests, and the view is none too great.
Awf Hand gives 2.5 out of 4 stars. Despite being an original that has been duplicated many times over, this film feels a bit contrived and predictable. The destination is predictable but watching the journey is only above average escapism.
