Bonnie and Clyde (1967)*

American’s love their gangsters and few are loved more than Bonnie and Clyde in this loosely based-on-true-story of their meeting, exploits and demise. In the 1930’s, shortly after his release from jail, Warren Beatty’s Clyde Barrow is lured back into a life of crime by Faye Dunaway’s bored Bonnie Parker. Joined by brother, Buck Barrow (Gene Hackman), his sniveling wife (Estelle Parsons) and loner C.W. Moss (Michael J. Pollard), armed robbery quickly turns to murder while the long-arm of the law relentlessly pursues the gang. It’s hard not to love and loathe these two. Tightly scripted, well-filmed, must-see gangster period-piece.

Awf Hand gives 3.5 out of 4 stars, loosing a half star for excessive and unnecessary deviation from the true story. –Although, my research indicates that protests from the living persons tied to the events forced some of the story to deviate from the true history. Too bad.
