Ugh. That's just...unfortunate. I've seriously never heard anyone give a good defense of that movie's greatness. Eh... I kind of liked it. It grew on me, I guess. I wouldn't look to it for any definite messages or philosophical underpinnings, but the family dynamic was familiar and felt natural. I liked it because it captured feelings well: loneliness, frustration, and being lost in the world around you. That aside, you can't deny that the cinematography and film editing were both fantastic.

Tree of Life is a frustrating movie because it has such obvious, glaring flaws... and yet it's so good.
