Favorite genre of music...GO!

And we're going with base genres so I don't want to hear any whining that hip-hop soul or American black metalcore isn't on it!

I'm a rock guy

Blues. Most music being played on the radio is total crap.

In the absence of Jazz, I opt for R&B, if that covers Soul and Funk.

I'm a rock guy myself, though I do also admittedly listen to alot of pop music and some rap.

I love how everything is fragmented into sub genres now.

Me? I voted rock. These days I'm listening to Progressive Death Metal or some Sludge. Yum.

It's probably fair to assume that a lot of us have tastes that resist being reduced to a single label. But if that's how we're playing it, there's more rock in my collection than anything else, it's the genre I first got into, and it's what my band plays.

Aw come on...I was sorta close. I think I did alright considering the last time I saw the name was when you wanted us to vote for your band to play in a festival. How'd that go? And...does the group sing about all the dinosaurs or is it just about the T-Rex and his awesome vox?

It never panned out. We were in the top few for a long time, then a couple other bands started gaining like crazy at the last minute. Not sure what was going on there. The guys who ended up winning sucked ass, but their video was a lot cooler than our "bunch of guys standing around in a rehearsal room" concept.

Rock, I guess. Actual, bona-fide R&B is great piled upon great but my guess was that the R&B option reflected the newfangled R&B, a modified form of hip hop.

I like that old time rock 'n roll.

If I had to pick one option, I'd choose rock...but I generally describe my tastes as "rock, rhythm, blues and jazz." I know that covers a lot of territory.

I chose "rock," but I interpret that genre VERY broadly.

Everybody does.

Quick: how do we justify lumping Chuck Berry, Muse, Led Zeppelin, Nickelback, Van Halen, Nirvana, and Bon Jovi into the same category?

That's a curse and a blessing, though, because if you're in a band, it's not fun to put labels on yourself. "Rock" is the get-out-of-jail-free card.
