Knowing James he has a spreadsheet of all our guesses and his start system has been recalibrated to cause maximum frustration on the boards.

Grrr, I sent him over 200 PM's this week asking for 2.5 for Knowing and what do I get 2 stars. He's playing with us

Oh well, next week is another day, or something like that :-)

Rob

PS - Tootise is comin' out at 4 stars I just know it, I can see him changing the review as a I type, grrrrrr

Damn, I should have just let Rob keep my wrong guess up...I'd be in the finals...off by a half-star AGAIN!!!!!

Knowing turned out to be better than I thought?!

Sigh, off by half a star. This is really much harder than I initially thought it would be. To be fair, I think we need to keep it at wide releases. "Sunshine Cleaning" was obvious, but I hope during the summer months it goes to the big films that week.

Nicholas Cage can be very good, though. I thought he was rather excellent in Adaptation, for instance. If somebody hates actors for frequently abysmal and lazy performances, that should add up to a long list, starting with Al Pacino.

Adapatation was seven years ago.

As for Pacino (and DeNiro), neither has done much worth commenting upon for a while. They both seem to have lost the hunger to give from-the-heart performances and now do stuff primarily for the paycheck.

What about Matchstick Men, The Weather Man, and I'll even add Lord of War. All these are made after Adaptation.

Sure, the guy has been lazy and inconsistent, but he still make films that are worth watching from time to time.

Tootsie's confirmed at a 3.5

I have to say the results of these intense competitions are making me crazy!! Just another reason I have to hate Nicholas Cage's guts from here on out.. just COULDN'T crank out something extra that would translate Knowing to a 2.5 and grant me victory - arg *insert profanity*

Looks like I'm part of a 5-way tie for most wins with a hearty 1 victory. This is war, Jim85, peng, AJ Hakari, and Unke!

I was so close, but I underestimated James' appreciation of Tootsie. Well, live and learn.

As we already know James gave Tootsie 3.5 stars

So special congratulations to the new entrants into the hall of Fame

AJ Hakari
Zeppelin
Unke

We are in awe of your knowledge and skill!

Special mention to Shrunkenhead who came so, so close :-)

I really like these weekly competitions and will work with Darth James to get week 4 up as soon as possible.

Yeah, these are great, if heartbreaking

I will strike true next week! Wait and see!

I hated Nicholas Cage too little and underrated Tootsie a bit. :( (I loved it, but I didn't think JB would think of it highly too, as our humors tend to mismatch)

Well, next week. I got a good feeling on the Last American Virgin. Monsters VS Aliens would be negative, but I don’t know how much that result from 3-D glasses. (Will the review be based on the 3-D experience? Are you going to watch it again in regular theatre, JB?) The Haunting blahblah and 12 rounds seemed not destined for greatness (or maybe goodness for that matter, though I kind of like 12 rounds trailer a little bit.)

Congrats to the winners! I was, once again, a half star away from joining you...so I might make a half-star adjustment to my instinctual picks next week. On to Week 4!

Yeah, I'm in that frustrating half star crowd and always on my middle pick :-(

this week will be different!

Congratulations to this week's winners; sadly, Nic Cage failed me by 'Overperforming' in a 2-star movie.
I must say it's really enjoyable to see how close one can get to James' star rating each week :)
