After a grand total of none of you succeeded in predicting James' film tastes, you get a lucky break this week; there are only three films to pick from. Even then, this list isn't predictable in the slightest. I'm sure we were all slightly stunned by James' review of 'Lethal Weapon' last week; who knows what he thinks of 'Robocop', then? Then what of 'Bruno', a comedy featuring Sacha Baron Cohen, whose 'Borat' became an overrated nuisance to James in late 2006? And then, 'I Love You, Beth Cooper', an 'I-can't-believe-it' teen rom-com? Do we even want to read that one?


I have an interesting idea this week:


According to peng, who also maintains a site with over 3,000 reviews James has not yet posted a mid-season film retrospective. Assuming it is done in the next week or two, what do you think the Top 10 is going to be? Be sure to make this list and your film list separate, please (although it CAN be in the same post). The first person to get it totally right gets a '+1' added to their total on the leaderboard (or they get to finally appear). Enjoy.

Oh, god! I have no idea where to start.

Here are my guesses for WEEK 19

Bruno *** - Might have enough funny moments although Cohen's outrageousness will undoubtedly start to wear thin after a while

Robocop ***1/2 James has stated on several occasions that he finds this to be brilliant which could either mean ***1/2 or **** so this is purely a guess

I Love you Beth Cooper ** Hayden Panettiere might be kinda cute but not enough to save this film

As for this top ten business...well, they say that you miss 100% of the shots that you don't take so here's my shot; let's see if it'll make the basket:

He shoots and he...missed albeit not by too much. At least I guessed all the ***1/2 in the proper order.

quick question,
will the class and hurt locker be considered? cuz technically, i see they were 2008 films. especially the class. hurt locker, maybe the wide release thing makes it a 2009 one.

This would be similar to what happened in 2007 when The Lives of Others topped James' list for the best of that year despite technically being a 2006 film. Clearly it has to do with whenever the film was given a wide release.

The halftime Top 10 is going up this week. I seriously doubt anyone will get the right order. Maybe it should be +2 for that; +1 for getting the right titles. (Even that seems unlikely - the ***1/2 ones are obvious but there are a lot of *** titles to fill out the final four places.)
