Best Movie From Each Decade?

Post Best Movie From Each Decade?
Here are mine:

I haven't really watched a lot of movies from the early early days of cinema, so I started in the 1930s. Feel free to start earlier if you wish.
1930s: M
1940s: Double Indemnity
1950s: 12 Angry Men (although The Seven Samurai is very close)
1960s: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly
1970s: Taxi Driver
1980s: Platoon
1990s: The Sweet Hereafter
2000s (so far): Requiem for a Dream

1910s: Birth of a Nation (by default)
1920s: Man With the Movie Camera
1930s: M
1940s: Citizen Kane
1950s: The Seventh Seal (Really? I like this film the less and less I think about it. I reserve the right to change this one lol.)
1960s: 2001: A Space Odyssey
1970s: Jaws
1980s: The Decalogue
1990s: Schindler's List
2000s (so far): Memento

These are all my favorites. As far as an objective, best film list like the topic states? I can't do it. I haven't seen nearly enough films; I'm too young.

1960s: 2001: A Space Odyssey or Dr. Strangelove
1970s: A Clockwork Orange
1980s: Ran or Raging Bull

1920's: Battleship Potemkin
1930's: Rules of the Game
1940's: Rebecca
1950's: Singin' in the Rain
1960's: La Dolce Vita
1970's: Annie Hall
1980's: Blade Runner
1990's: The Thin Red Line
2000's: Requiem for a Dream

The 40's was the hardest as I didn't have a definitive favorite. Citizen Kane and The Bicycle Thief were up there.

I should have named the topic "favorite" movie from each decade, as I listed my favorites.

1950 - Vertigo

The follow up question here is what do you consider was the greatest decade for movies - and why?

It is a great question, and one that I (even after studying film and watching many many movies) don't feel qualified to answer. As a man in my twenties, I still haven't seen enough films from the 20's through the 70's to be able to accurately pick which one was the best.

Maybe I'm missing the point though - maybe I should think about which decades have many of my favorite films.
The 60's: La Dolce Vita, 8 1/2, Once Upon a Time in the West, The Graduate, Bonnie and Clyde, Contempt, Breathless, Jules and Jim, Ivan's Childhood
were fantastic for filmmaking.
I would be hard-pressed to find another decade that I enjoy the films of more than the 60's besides maybe the 90's or 2000's which benefit from the sheer quantity from which I have seen.

Oh I used to be really good with years, but ever since I started watching TONS of movies in the past couple of years, dates seem to be of a lesser priority.

umm.... I'll try, but for reals... this is probably REALLY inaccurate (both from a fact point and from my own judgements). I hate being put on the spot.
00s: The Great Train Robbery (I think the only other film I've seen from this decade is A Trip to the Moon)
10s: Broken Blossoms (I'm gonna do the blasphemous here and say this is a better movie than Birth of a Nation)
20s: Nosferatu, Passion of Joan of Arc, The General.
30s: probably City Lights. ummm.... yeah, no probably.
40s: I have to say Casablanca. Definitely my favorite. Best? Perhaps.
50s: Singin' in the Rain (although I'm compelled to mention A Streetcar Named Desire, Rear Window, and On the Waterfront just cuz I feel like I should)
60s: 2001 (and special shout out to To Kill a Mockingbird, just cuz it means a lot to me)
70s: I think The Godfather, if not probably Taxi Driver.
80s: Raging Bull (ET is my fave though)
90s: Schindler's List
00s: Wall-E. No lie. Easiest film and decade to decide on.

10's: Intolerance (1918)
20's: The Gold Rush (1925)
30's: City Lights (1931)
40's: Citizen Kane (1941)
50's: Rashomon (1950)
60's: 2001: A Space Oddyssey (1968)/Dr. Strangelove (1964) <virtual tie>
70's: Taxi Driver (1976)
80's: The Decalogue (1988)
90's: Schindler's List (1994)
00's: Yi Yi (2000)

These are my choices for what I would consider the 'best' movies of these decades, as opposed to my personal favorites (although they are usually close to my choices).

I don't feel as though I can go any further back than the 20s and have any authority...so here goes:

1920s - The Passion of Joan of Arc
1930s - Rules of the Game
1940s - Citizen Kane (original, right?)
1950s - Sansho the Baliff...or maybe Seven Samurai.....or maybe The Third Man....hard decade for me
1960s - 2001
1970s - The Godfather (1 and 2)
1980s - Amadeus
1990s - The Sweet Hereafter
2000s - No Country for Old Men
