Anyhoo, my list looks like this:

1. Se7en (1995)

What the hell Kunz? Didn't you shit all over this film in that thread you created? Something the plot not holding water. Or bearing scrutiny? Something like that...

*Sighs* this always happens to me. I'm misunderstood. I often point out holes in movies, especially ones I like. Hell I brought up a major plot hole in Chinatown, and that's one of the best movies ever made AND a personal favorite.

As for Se7en, the plot may not be airtight, but it does a ton of things really, really well. The atmosphere alone is amazing.

You're an enigma, you. How can your wife handle it? :)

But I totally agree, that movie puts me into a mood everytime I watch the thing. Seven is probably in my top 3 Fincher movies if I had to make a damn list. If there is one thing that Fincher does best in his films is create atmosphere.

1: Fight Club

The best of the lot. A modern day classic in both theme and look.

2: Seven

For me it works brilliantly as a detective buddy/anti-buddy film before you get the the twist.

3: Social Network

Very entertaining. Excellent scripting.

4: Zodiac

Good. Atmospheric and underplayed.

5: The Game

Not as good as I remembered it being when I was 17. But still decent.

6: Curious Case Of Benjamin Button

Overated. A once watch. But not terrible

6: Panic Room

See above

7: Alien 3

Poor really.

Welcome NotHughGrant (though if you say you're not Hugh Grant I automatically suspect that you actually are Hugh Grant)!

I agree with most of your thoughts but like Panic Room a great deal more than you. I think the good things about Panic Room are all thanks to Fincher. In another director's hands it's a very ordinary thriller. Fincher elevates it, not into a great movie, but into something very good. That's the mark of a great director.
