Post Movies You Own... With Darker Motives
Ever watch the film 'One Night Stand', and go, 'What excellent filmmaking?'.

That's what I thought. So why do I own this shipwreck? Because a film with N. Kinski and Ming Na at her hottest (and - bonus - craziest) probably deserves a cursory glance every once in a while (and, siginificantly, it sold for next to nothing). I doubt I ever watched 'Frida' past the initial viewing for historical perspective. And 'The Name Of The Rose' might be bleak and austere... but what about that Valentina Vargas?

If you think you get the seamy depths of what I'm doing, join me in my quest 8-)

I'm sure that I never blind buy a movie thinking "That chick's hot and she has a lot of nude scenes in it, awesome!" That's why Al Gore invented the internet so we could just see the nakedness without seeing the rest of the movie!

But then again I do watch United States of Tara just for Toni Collette and the teases of nudity.

As far as homosexual confessions go, this is pretty classy :)

As for Toni Collette... ewww.

P.S. - Are you suggesting using a monthly paysite (or whatever they do) is more cost-efficient than buying an otherwise good film like 'The Name Of The Rose' for $3? Really, Pat, that's where this is heading?

I'm just saying that a naked chick isn't going to get me through the theater, I'll just search out the screen-caps, where free ones exist and they do...even though if Jennifer Connelly actually does another decent nude scene(House of Sand and Fog were horrible teases, no clear looks!) then maybe I'll rush out.

And In the Name of the Rose only had two good things, F. Murray Abraham and that sex scene and it is worth only $3 or less.

I take it you haven't met Mr Skin Phil? :P haha

Guilty as charged. I read in a feature somewhere that critics hard a hard time determining whether the Lust, Caution erotica was real or simulated. I went to the video rental store like a man on a mission!

I don't own any movies based on this motive, but it's the exact reason I rented Mulholland Drive when I was 17.

Well, I bought Make It Happen for the sole reason of seeing Mary Elizabeth Winstead shake her booty.... but meh. The internets is better.

Yea, I dont own it, but when its on cable I tend to perk up...hehe. Something great about Neve and Denise mixed up in a movie with Kevin Bacon, Matt Dillon and Bill Murray (and alligators). Sexy B movie cotton candy.

I would suggest you watch Japanese Story for more than just teases. Damn fine movie, too.

I'm aware that movie exists and what sexy things go on there, I just haven't seen it.

Bought this on DVD - watched it several times - but not for dark purposes

Japanese Story is simply awesome. There's nudity, but it's not that ah hem, sexual.
My girlfriend and I always confuse it with Tokyo Story

Just a really great movie.

Oh, and Bound.

Wife "What is this? Some lesbian soft-core porn flick?"

Me "No, no dear! It's a really, really good modern noir with a great plot and fantastic cinematography."

Wife "Looks like a lesbian sex movie to me."

This thread deserves a new life.

I would like to throw out Waking The Dead, which is really a crappy film but has ALOT of Jennifer Connelly loving in it.

Absolutely.

Dropped $15 for a DVD of Savage Grace because I'd been told that Elena Anaya had a full-frontal scene. The movie is unpleasant and mediocre but, you know what?, it contains full-frontal nudity from Elena Anaya. Check and mate.

Picked up a $5 copy of The Dreamers because it reportedly featured Bond girl Vepser Lynd in every possible angle. It's a good movie, no doubt. Like Playboy magazine: you buy it for the pictures but stay for the articles. And also the pictures.

When Will I Be Loved was purchased against my better judgement because Neve Campbell delivers on the promise of Wild Things. Terrible, terrible movie. Disappointing for other reasons, too. Sorry Neve.

Brian De Palma saw a few bucks from me when I picked up a copy of Femme Fatale just to see Rebecca Romijn make out with a topless Rie Rasmussen. This silly, deeply stupid movie (that ending!!!) was purchased solely for the first 20 minutes. I've learned to like it for it's sheer dumbness and surplus of terrible ideas. What did James Berardinelli think of it?

...Femme Fatale is nothing short of a disaster – easily one of the worst movies of the year.

And how!

I've stopped purchasing DVDs, mostly, but once in a while I find myself looking at a new copy of Lovely & Amazing and think "Do I choose Emily Mortimer or do I eat for three nights?" I ultimately choose not to starve but, really, what's three days?

Pathetic? Yes. A waste of money? Yes. Having to come up with an excuse as to why you own Femme Fatale? Difficult. Verging on impossible.

I used to do this...Color of Night, Slither, Jade, ect, and always thought that Blockbuster prided itself on not having porn yet they had films such as Crash and others that were thinly masked as dramas and thrillers.
